At least 9 people shot in D.C.
Nine people were wounded along a city block in southern Washington, D.C., Tuesday night after shooters opened fire on a crowd, police said.
Metro Police Chief Cathy Lanier said the shooting prompted a lengthy police chase that ended in the arrest of three people. Four officers were treated for minor injuries from an accident during the chase.
The victims who were shot near the 5000 block of South Capitol Street included six males and three females, and some were in very serious condition, Lanier said.
A tenth person was shot on nearby Galveston Street, but it wasn't clear whether the two shootings were related.
Lanier decline to give more details, saying it was too early in the investigation.
However, she told reporters that, "We've made a lot of progress to stop gang retaliation and violence and, in the end, if this ends up being some kind of gang retaliation then shame on all of us."

This is no different than a day in Detroit, Chicago, Los angles, Miami or any other large city. As the economy continues to dwindle gun related violence will continue to rise. It's human nature to do whatever is necessary for survival and to see to the needs of our families. I don't place blame on Republicans, Democrats or any other political party. I place the blame on "government period". As far as the second amendment is concerned, if we outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns. I have and always will reserve the right to own firearms for sport as well as for the protection of myself and my family.
More than likely its going to be gang related. Then we will hear the sob story about racism, single parent home, sex abuse as a child, drug addict dad, prostitute mom, and how society aka YT is really responsible for the shooter(s)'s actions! Maybe some bible thumping liberal can head to the hood and find their own "blind side" story! LMAO!

This may sound petty in comparison to the story topic, but I really wish reporters would distinguish between "Washington" and "Washington D.C." in their shock-grabbing headlines. I live in Washington state, and we don't refer to ourselves as being from "Washington State" but from "Washington".

I am an American citizen, living in Canada....we have gun control in Canada, and we have 90% less deaths by guns..need I say more? The stats do not lie, and it is safe to walk around here , in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver, day or night.... why? because guns are controlled...What other explanation do you provide...are Canadians that more peaceful? It never ceases to amaze me how our nations capitol has the toughest gun laws in the country and the highest crime rate. These shootings just show how restrictive gun laws only make the public at large more vulnerable because only law abiding citizens obey the law. The thugs have a defenseless society to prey upon.
DC is an embarrassment to this nation. When visiting DC, tourists are warned to be extremely cautious if they choose to leave their hotel after dark.DC needs a curfew for it's residents. Total shame.
I want to wait and find out the details before jumping to conclusion. Although given the latest headlines I don't blame anyone for thinking possible radical militant factions like the 8 people arrested recently. But I do agree that its best to wait first.
