Chechen rebel leader: I ordered Moscow attack

Chechen rebel leader Dokku Umarov claimed that he personally gave orders to attack the Moscow subway this week, according to a Chechen rebel Web site.

Kavkaz Center, a Web site that regularly carries messages from the rebels, released a video in which Umarov said he was behind the Monday attacks.

The attacks were revenge for what Umarov called a "massacre conducted by the Russian occupants against the poorest residents of Chechnya and Ingushetia," the Web site says.

According to the site, the video was taped the same day as the attacks.

The incident Umarov referred to is a February special operation by Russian forces, after which there were accusations of Russians killing innocent civilians. In the video, Umarov said the victims were simply gathering garlic to make a living.

The attacks in Moscow, in which two female suicide bombers killed at least 39 people, were legitimate retribution for what happened in Chechnya, Umarov said in the video. He also promised "new acts of vengeance" in Russia.

Russians will no longer be able to simply observe the battles in the Caucasus, Umarov said.

"Therefore, the war will come to your streets, and you will feel it for yourselves and with your own lives," he said in the video.

Its all started by Afghan war, than my country is fighting with these militants in Kashmir, India and than these fellows and than some in China.. I always hate to relate these as Muslims as they are just .00000000001% of total muslim population and they just misuse religion and misguide people..

No religion says wear a jacket and blow out in subway or metro or school and kill kids, women etc.. No religion allows this.

We all civilized people be it a Muslim or chritian or Hindu or whatever should be clear its terrorism and its a terrorist act.. Just forget its Russia or USA or whatever country, if there are terrorist like these whole world should act together even Iran etc to eliminate such fellows and bring peace.. And there is nothing like good and bad militants.. We should respect values we stand for and not for our shallow benefits.. If there is attack on any country, its attack on the innocent people be it of any race or origin and it should be dealt in same manner..

Lets pray for peace for everyone..

I hope he is caught and they peel the skin starting at his throat and finishing at the top of his pointy, evil little head. Send IT to hell where IT belongs!

The Chechens have always been a rascally bunch. Russia decided that it would retreat no more after the loss of its former territories in western-central asia. The Chechens want to be independent of Russia, and Russia is not going to allow this. If the Russians found it opportune they would regain, by force, all of their lost territory. The Caucasus region is particularly important in terms of oil access. This actually has nothing to do with Islam per se. The path that this conflict is heading towards is eventually genocide of the Chechens and other perceived ethnic troublemakers in the Caucasus,

If you do not believe me just read your history. Stalin deported en mass Chechens and other perceived ethnic troublemakers to Siberia and some of the former asian territories like Kazakhstan. This situation will just go on and on until the geopolitical opportunity arises to allow the Russians to eliminate the Chechens. Russians, unlike Americans, are pretty stoic; they have no illusions about human nature and weather crises well.

The blood of these civilians killed in the Moscow subway bombing should be poured on the ministers and military leaders who have been conducting murder in Chechnya for 20+ years.

Humans are a strange species. We have a vast intelligence, great capacity for imagination and compassion and yet we kill each other so ruthlessly.

This is the guy the Russians need to talk to in order to stop all this godless carnage.Let's just forget all this right-wing bla-bla-bla about the need for killing "terrorists" and help the Russians achieve a negotiated settlement with the Chechnians and grant them their independence.
