U.S. warship captures suspected pirate mother ship

The USS Nicholas came under fire from a pirate vessel and then captured it.

A U.S. warship sank a pirate skiff and captured a pirate mother ship in the Indian Ocean on Thursday, according to a statement from U.S. Naval Forces Africa.

The frigate USS Nicholas came under fire from a pirate vessel shortly after midnight in international waters west of the Seychelles, according to a U.S. military statement.

The Nicholas returned fire and pursued the skiff as it fled, capturing it about 90 minutes later. Three suspected pirates aboard the skiff were taken into custody, along with two others aboard a suspected pirate mother ship that was nearby.

If you keep killing these guys, pretty soon, they'll run out of pirates.

    Problem solved.

I think that we need to start blowing up all of the pirate ships. After getting shot at, I say let them all DIE.

Umm, why capture the pirates and not just kill them outright?

If they started hanging them in port as a warning of what will happen to pirates, some of this might stop.

Why don't we put well-trained armed (machine guns, rocket-propelled granade launchers, etc. – the good stuff!) personnel (sending Blackwater folkes or whatever new name they use now – would be greatly justified!) on every ship/vessel that crosses the pirate-infested areas? Sink the skiffs and/or mother ships and drown the jerks before they come anywhere near! And, do the world a favor: keep the media out of this... The ship owners would be only happy to pay the cost! Better than paying millions in ransome... We and other countries patrolling the oceans would save millions (if not billions) in the process... See if the idiots ever attack again...

What kind of dumb pirates would go ahead and shoot at a U.S. Navy ship? Obviously they must have known we were going to shoot back and go after them.

Not sure why we capture this trash. They ought to be shot and dumped into the water. That's about all they're good for.
