U.S. warship captures suspected pirate mother ship

The USS Nicholas came under fire from a pirate vessel and then captured it.

A U.S. warship sank a pirate skiff and captured a pirate mother ship in the Indian Ocean on Thursday, according to a statement from U.S. Naval Forces Africa.

The frigate USS Nicholas came under fire from a pirate vessel shortly after midnight in international waters west of the Seychelles, according to a U.S. military statement.

The Nicholas returned fire and pursued the skiff as it fled, capturing it about 90 minutes later. Three suspected pirates aboard the skiff were taken into custody, along with two others aboard a suspected pirate mother ship that was nearby.

Should have sank both ships. Leave the pirates for the fish.

These pirates have clearly shown that they are a bunch of idiots. YOU look at the ship they tried to "pirate"....do you think you are going to overtake such a vessel with a couple of machine guns? Much less with the letters "USS" on the side? Come on!!!!

Give them the so-called Chinese treatment-execute them. Words will get around and that in itself a much more effective deterrent. Years ago the Chinese executed a bunch of pirates, a Chinese police captain and his cohorts among them, and the South China Sea has been free of pirate since. You just got to fight fire with fire.

    This is GREAT NEWS!!!
It's about time these scumbags were taught a lesson.
Blow the so-and-so's outa the water.
It tookthat kind of action to rid the Caribbean and Western Atlantic of pirates in the1700AD era,
Methinks that entirely too much "Polotically Correctness" is exercised in dealing with these people. They have become overbold because the Nations that have the firepower to eliminate them are reluctant to act in concert to eliminate them.
Start blowing them ALL out of the water and see how quickly they "cease and desist" their nefarious activities.

I wonder what kind of weed they were smoking before they decided to engage a U.S. Naval Ship?

Good! It's about time we started taking a harder stance against these Somalian morons! Maybe if this happens a few more times, they will think twice about attacking ships for ransom.
