U.S. warship captures suspected pirate mother ship

The USS Nicholas came under fire from a pirate vessel and then captured it.

A U.S. warship sank a pirate skiff and captured a pirate mother ship in the Indian Ocean on Thursday, according to a statement from U.S. Naval Forces Africa.

The frigate USS Nicholas came under fire from a pirate vessel shortly after midnight in international waters west of the Seychelles, according to a U.S. military statement.

The Nicholas returned fire and pursued the skiff as it fled, capturing it about 90 minutes later. Three suspected pirates aboard the skiff were taken into custody, along with two others aboard a suspected pirate mother ship that was nearby.

Thank God W is out of office, or we'd have to put up with another "Mission Accomplished" speech.

What we should do is put some yachts out as decoys filled with soldiers. Just keep luring them in.

Isn't it great to have a leader in the WH (Obama – not Chaney)) – letting the Navy defend itself, dealing with Iran, attacking the Health Care crisis, dealing with the financial crisis, education, going after the terrorists in Afgan., helping to save the auto industry, trying to keep Wall Street from running amuck, balancing the need for energy independence with a need to go green, getting allies back on our side, etc, etc.....this guy is a decision maker and even if you don't agree with his politics, you must admit to his leadership ability....nice change

If Captain Jack Aubrey had been in charge, the mother ship would have been sent to the bottom.

Those pirates obviously came from the shallow end of the gene pool. Attacking a frigate? Hello? Go, Navy!

Are these pirates crazy? Boarding luxury yachts brandishing AK-47's is one thing, taking on a REAL LIVE naval vessel is quite another.

As Retired Army noted: "they fired on a WARSHIP?!?"

    The stupid . . . it burns . . .
