U.S. warship captures suspected pirate mother ship

The USS Nicholas came under fire from a pirate vessel and then captured it.

A U.S. warship sank a pirate skiff and captured a pirate mother ship in the Indian Ocean on Thursday, according to a statement from U.S. Naval Forces Africa.

The frigate USS Nicholas came under fire from a pirate vessel shortly after midnight in international waters west of the Seychelles, according to a U.S. military statement.

The Nicholas returned fire and pursued the skiff as it fled, capturing it about 90 minutes later. Three suspected pirates aboard the skiff were taken into custody, along with two others aboard a suspected pirate mother ship that was nearby.

So, attempted attack by pirates on a US warship? LOL. most likely they were surprised by the Nicholas as it came upon them in the night and panicked and they fired upon the ship and tried to flee. I like how this headline is setup to read like the pirates innitiated an attack upon a US warship like it was planned out.

Aarrrgh!! They be shootin' back at us! Avast!! Raise the sails and turn our back to the wind, Mateys!

Never, ever, attack a Navy vessel with muskets and pistols. They be no match for cruise missles and 20mm cannons. This is what happens when Africans watch too many pirate movies,

I would have never imagined that pirates would be dumb enough to attempt to capture a guided missile frigate of the US Navy. I was obviously giving them WAY too much credit.

Interesting. The early history of USNavy was combating pirates in the Mediterranean.

Pirates shooting at a US warship?

Isn't that kinda like firing rubber bullets at an Abrams tank?

Maybe these guys should go back to Pirate school for a few more years before going out into the Indian Ocean to "plunder booty".

Pirating 101: Don't fire on ships bigger and stronger than you.
Pirating 102: Don't attack the USA. We'll not only kill you, but we'll take over your country, too!
