U.S. warship captures suspected pirate mother ship

The USS Nicholas came under fire from a pirate vessel and then captured it.

A U.S. warship sank a pirate skiff and captured a pirate mother ship in the Indian Ocean on Thursday, according to a statement from U.S. Naval Forces Africa.

The frigate USS Nicholas came under fire from a pirate vessel shortly after midnight in international waters west of the Seychelles, according to a U.S. military statement.

The Nicholas returned fire and pursued the skiff as it fled, capturing it about 90 minutes later. Three suspected pirates aboard the skiff were taken into custody, along with two others aboard a suspected pirate mother ship that was nearby.

Aaargh, and Avast, all ye doom Sayers! We, US, cannot run around the world as 'executioners'.
Buy law, everyone has a right (Correct or not) to a trial.
The alternative is Chaos and anarchy.
No matter how heinous the crime, trials are needed, otherwise we would have 'hanging trees' and 'gallows' everywhere.

This is all they will understand, you wanna be a private, then die like one!

That was a pretty damn good trial pirates. I wish you keep trying on warships and not on civilian vessels, then we will empty our U.S treasury and pure upon you sockers huge ransoms.

Ambition is one thing, but what a bunch of retards attacking a warship. That's like attacking a tank with a squirt gun. We shouldn't even be taking these morons into custody. We'll just turn them over to the Somali government for a joke of a trial and they'll get broke out of jail and head right back out. All that these idiots understand is force. We should have just fired on them with a Vulcan for about 30 seconds, then we wouldn't have to worry about them causing trouble in the future. It's not like they ever learn, so what's the difference?

Obama allowed the Navy to shoot back. I remember when our embassy was taken over because our Marines were ordered not to fire back as they were being fired upon, and the Iranians stormed our embassy. Yeah Obama.

Maybe they thought they could outrun the ship if things turned sour, so here's a tip: The first 'f' in ffg-47 stands for 'fast'. I'll bet most of the '90 minute chase' was getting permission or giving them a nice, long head-start to make it interesting. The 'fg' part stands for 'frigate', a ship purpose-built to defend other ships. It's like a garden snake picking a fight with a mongoose- It's just not fair.
Here's to hoping pirates keep making it this easy.
