The USS Nicholas came under fire from a pirate vessel and then captured it.
A U.S. warship sank a pirate skiff and captured a pirate mother ship in the Indian Ocean on Thursday, according to a statement from U.S. Naval Forces Africa.
The frigate USS Nicholas came under fire from a pirate vessel shortly after midnight in international waters west of the Seychelles, according to a U.S. military statement.
The Nicholas returned fire and pursued the skiff as it fled, capturing it about 90 minutes later. Three suspected pirates aboard the skiff were taken into custody, along with two others aboard a suspected pirate mother ship that was nearby.
Deceptive lighting. Squidformers – Navy in disguise!
Wait a minute, guys. I think it's a calculated plan. They attacked the US Navy ship so that they will be taken to the US to face charges. After 5 years in jail they can be selling hot dogs or driving taxi cabs in the streets of Manhattan. They are smarter than we think.
God Bless the United States Navy. Way to go USS Nicholas!
Great news,....Now we just have to wait while Barry , our Commandeer in chiei figures out a way to charge the US Navy with war crimes for shooting at inocent people in the ocean, jail a few Seaman for treating the pirates poorly and of course, apologizing to the World for the abhorant behavior of the Us Military. Gotta gain the respect of the World, you know.
The pirates will likely be read Miranda rights, brought to the US, will request asylum, be granted citizenship, and will soon be on welfare. With any luck, one could become president someday.
way to go American Navy – we should not allow modern-day pirates to rule the Indian Ocean, what next? South Atlantic ? Nato and other pirate fighting Navies should be merciless with suspected pirate skiffs and their mother ships
The pirates were enjoying a leisurely sail away from the confines of their mothership when they spotted a US Navy warship on the horizon...The captain of the pirates, PegLeg Mumbasa was his name, turned to his mateys swabbing his poop deck. What was asked of his crew spurred a chain of events that led to their eventual humiliating capture
"Avast ye mateys, thar be an Imperial warship in our midst....Truth or Daaaare?"
God bless the United States Navy!
Go Navy! Beat Pirates!
WAY TO GO US NAVY!!!!! WAY TO GO CREW of the USS NICHOLAS!! Kick butt. Fire on a warship, eh? That was really clear judgement, a good decision, that pirate captain is a real hero, NOT. Feed 'em to the sharks for a tasty snack. That's all those lowlifes deserve. Then, seek and destroy the rest of the lot and be done with this stupid pirate business. Don't mess with the US NAVY........................
"I immediately regret this decision"
About time! Good job, Navy.
Score 1 for the crew of the USS Nicholas! And agreement with an earlier comment- let the pirates swim for the frigate, sharks need food too.
I suppose now the pirates will be brought back to the USA, read their rights and be given a trial with appointed counsel?
I'm so proud of my husband on the NIC! Our 3 yr old is always telling people his daddy is fighting pirates...can't wait to go home and tell him they got some!!
