U.S. warship captures suspected pirate mother ship

The USS Nicholas came under fire from a pirate vessel and then captured it.

A U.S. warship sank a pirate skiff and captured a pirate mother ship in the Indian Ocean on Thursday, according to a statement from U.S. Naval Forces Africa.

The frigate USS Nicholas came under fire from a pirate vessel shortly after midnight in international waters west of the Seychelles, according to a U.S. military statement.

The Nicholas returned fire and pursued the skiff as it fled, capturing it about 90 minutes later. Three suspected pirates aboard the skiff were taken into custody, along with two others aboard a suspected pirate mother ship that was nearby.

So since this attack occurred in international waters, on a US Navy ship, can we declare them as enemy combatants, declare war on "Piracy", and hold these individuals indefinitely pending the end of our war on "Piracy"?

The pirates alledgedly fired at the US Navy Ship! Smart pirates. Now they get 3 hots and a cot, clean orange jump suit and a ride in a world class fighting ship. Not a bad punishment. Why waste taxpayer money, Why not just throw them all overboard and feed them to the sharks. The Navy sunk their skiff, probably with an M-203. As for the mothership, put on a crew of US Special Ops. Set a course for the main port of the pirates hangout. Load it with HE, moor the boat in the middle of all the pirate boats, and blow the whole thing up with all the other pirate ships. Of course all our sailors would be taken off the ship before it crashed into the port.

Then watch as the pirates, their boats and their home port burn to a heap of crispy critters.

Pirates deserve no less. They are murderous thieves.

Excellent, If ships of our fleet must wait to be fired upon before taking action, it is good to see some positive action to neutralize these creeps and their criminal actions. None of this activity will ever stop until more action like this takes place. If this sort of reaction is not enough, it should be escalated until it is effective!

If these pirates are ignorant enought to shoot at a US Warship they should have been blown out of the water. Why take them into custody and be responsible for feeding and housing them? It creates the potential for our soldiers to be court martialed by our liberal government for prisoner "abuse". Time to get back to basics we are at war and if we are attacked we must destroy our enemy.
