U.S. warship captures suspected pirate mother ship

The USS Nicholas came under fire from a pirate vessel and then captured it.

A U.S. warship sank a pirate skiff and captured a pirate mother ship in the Indian Ocean on Thursday, according to a statement from U.S. Naval Forces Africa.

The frigate USS Nicholas came under fire from a pirate vessel shortly after midnight in international waters west of the Seychelles, according to a U.S. military statement.

The Nicholas returned fire and pursued the skiff as it fled, capturing it about 90 minutes later. Three suspected pirates aboard the skiff were taken into custody, along with two others aboard a suspected pirate mother ship that was nearby.

    It's about time they screwed up like that. Now we need to send a bunch of military ships out disguised as regular cargo ships and do that all the time. LOL. I would have liked to have seen the looks on their faces when they realized it was a warship!

    Wouldn't it have been nice if Osama Bil Laden had been found on board. Funny thing is, that's how we'll probably get him, stumbling over him as he's dumpster diving behind some Army refuse pit.

    We ought to round up all those crackpot militia types running around here – the ones with all those guns and WAAAY too much time on their hands – put them on a boat, and tell them to go catch pirates.
    It would accomplish so much.... they can actually fire off their weapons in a meaningful way, they can say they are defending the USA....and finally, should they prove no match for a bunch of skinny guys in rubber boats and a couple of AK-47s, well...no loss.

    Excellent news !!!! If it were up to me, I would hunt down, and sink every Pirate ship with extreme prejudice, as in, shoot first, and ask NO questions. Then I would attack Somalia and send the country back into the middle ages, no prisoners, no mercy, no second chance.
