Extremist group demands governors resign
A domestic extremist group has sent letters to more than 30 U.S. governors demanding they resign, the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI said in an intelligence note.
The note, dated Monday, said the letters told the governors to vacate their posts within three days.
DHS and the FBI said there do not appear to be credible or immediate threats of violence attached to the letters.
The group behind the letters has a "Restore America Plan" that calls for the removal of any governor who fails to comply, the intelligence note said.
While DHS has no information that the removal refers to a specific plan for violence, "law enforcement should be aware that this could be interpreted as a justification for violence or other criminal actions," the note said.
Other steps in the group's plan include "establishing bogus courts, calling of 'de jure' grand juries, and issuing so-called 'legal orders' to gain control of the state," the note said.
Gov. Jim Gibbons of Nevada was among those who received the letters.
His chief of staff, Robin Reedy, told CNN the governor received one letter Monday, and three more Wednesday, one of those by fax. The group behind the letters does not believe there should be a federal government, Reedy said.
The letters were not handwritten, but did have some handwritten signatures, Reedy told CNN Thursday.
The office had been warned in advance to be on the lookout for the letter, she said.
Gibbons' office stepped up security at the capitol in Carson City after receiving the letters. Everyone had to enter through one entrance, and an X-ray machine and metal detector were brought in. Boulders were placed in front of the capitol so vehicles could not drive close to the building.
The governor had not seen the letters himself, because he had been in Las Vegas for a few days, Reedy said Thursday.

Quit with the mis-quided Republican tea-party extremist comments please. Many of these threats are against Conservatives so it doesn't look like right wing extremists but rather some sort of anarchist group.
This is a hit piece against a good group trying to do the right thing. If people even knew the law then they would see the sham that is our corporate government. These people are trying to the best they can in the system of control that is set up. Maybe you all should go see what they are about before believing some newsface condemning them for a paycheck.
This is being blamed on the Tea Party??? A Republican Governor, with a long military history???
Some people really jump to conclusions. It would have helped if there was more information in this article.
How should we deal with this? Well, for starters let's stop calling them "right wing extremists" and start using the more accurate term "domestic terrorists".

Most politicians being fully owned by the global socialist ownership elite and put in place through computer rigging are well aware that they and their system is bogus {to use the jingo phrase used in the hit piece by CNN}. Talk about bogus courts and racketeering by the de facto government you slimeballs. Talk about cops tasering old ladies. Where is the objective reporting of real journalism? Certainly not on CNN. Even Fox is better than this. No wonder half its viewers are gone. Welcome to the zionist police state.
1. The governors who have been identified are a mixture of republican and democrat.
2. This extremist group doesn't want any government, state or federal. No taxes, no maintained highways and bridges. Guess they would privatize everything and if you want to go to the store you would first have to pay to get there.
3.They evidently don't believe there should be any law enforcement- just vigilante type justice. No thanks. Too often mob rule is wrong and it's too late to go back.
4. They seem to want to go back to an 1860 constitution – a time when slavery was still legal and allowed and only white men had the right to vote. No thanks again.
5. They are not democrats or republicans and seem to be so far right of that they would be more accurately called domestic terrorist bent even if they are not currently advocating violence. I don't think that part is far behind. They cannot possibly think they are going to achieve their goals without it. There are way too many people who wouldn't go along with their goals.
