Interpol ramps up hunt for Saddam Hussein's daughter

The international police organization Interpol has stepped up the hunt for Saddam Hussein's eldest daughter, who is wanted by Iraqi authorities on terrorism charges.

Interpol posted a picture on of Raghad Hussein, 41, on its Web site Monday, noting that she is being pursued for "crimes against life and health incitement [and] terrorism."

Iraqi authorities say that Hussein has provided financial backing for a terrorist cell network tied to a series of attacks on coalition forces in Iraq. The attacks by the insurgents, according to the Iraqi military, included the use of rocket-propelled grenades and roadside bombs.

The Iraqi government first issued an arrest warrant for the daughter of the late Iraqi leader in 2006 on charges of inciting terrorism.

At the time, Interpol - based in Lyon, France - issued a red notice in the case. Such a notice is a request to police anywhere to help track down Hussein and extradite her to Iraq.

Hussein has been living in Jordan under the protection of that country's royal family.

- CNN's Mohammed Tawfeeq contributed to this report.

I personally know someone whose family was persecuted by Hussien's regime.
He told me he just had to watch his hanging on line, he was that happy. I think
you really do not understand what it was like living under the reign of terror that
Saddam Hussein and his sons (family) caused his own people. If you didn't do
what he wanted and you fled, he would just torture and murder your family until
you complied with what he wanted you to do. Your response/post is unfathomable.

NYC, He didn't say it was Iraqi's. He said terrorists. And yes, Iraq is full of them. Not all the 9//11 terrorists were from Saudi Arabia either. Learn to play the "researching your facts before sounding like an idiot" game or GTFO.

i completely agree with you daniel. 911 was a horrible thing that happened. the ppl who did it are still out on the loose but hundreds of thousands of civilians have died bc of what Bush had started. so he's the one hurting our servicemen, not iraqis nor did sadam hussein.

One of the incredible things about our country is the freedom of speech. Another one of the wonderful things about our country is the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. If you are so unhappy with your life here, the liberties that accompany that life, and if it would make you happier, you can always exercise your right to leave our country. You might like to immigrate to one of those fantastic middle eastern countries that harbour terrorists and then live in fear for the rest of your life simply because you do not believe the way established governments want you to believe or do not worship the same God,in the same manner, as they want you to believe. Good luck!

      duties and obligations,
1st off no war is Godly. Anyone that says a war is being fought on behalf of a God is dellusional and misguided.

However, wars are necessary to protect certain values/morals/ect. Our founding fathers fought for our 4 guiding freedoms: Freedom of speech, Freedom of relegion, Freedom from want, and Freedom from fear.

Her family was a group of thugs, that use power to gain their own wealth. that used WMD on their own people/countryman. That invaded other countries without pretext. That murdered and burried large sums of poeple in mass graves. How could you say poor girl...Are you that naive.

Wether the USA should have gone to war their is a question that will long debated by people with different opinions. I personnaly beleive that we as humans have an obligation and duty to help those that are oppressed. The guiding ideals that we live by set forth by our founding fathers do not just belong to us. We should help other countries at least have the right to choose if they want to live by those ideals. If they do not, then so be it, but they should have a right to choose.

George Bush is not hurting the servicemen..George Bush did not start the war–the TERROISTS that ran airplanes into the twin towers started the WAR..The servicemen (alot of them) signed up for the armed services after 9/11/01 because they love AMERICA and they were willing to die for the safety of the country and the AMERICAN citizens. When the heck are people going to start blaming our current president for stuff. Blah Blah Blah he inherited these problems from Bush...WHATEVER-Bush inherited problems from Clinton..so you see...it is a neverending cycle..

yea we should've, bc the ppl who hurt our country are still out on the loose. like osama bin laden and his whole gang who started this all. so what was the sense in starting another war to destroy another country when we were in the middle of one already. ask the ppl who've lost family in the havoc of 911, see if they care about sadam's destruction or the care about bin laden being brought to justice

We leave the countries in Africa alone who "continue to murder, pillage their own country, and invade neighboring ones". Oh yeah, I forgot – no OIL down there... – Containment was working in Iraq and there were obviously no WMD – the enemy was and is in Afganistan, but there is no OIL there...so Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rice attacked a sovereign nation (that I have no respect for – Iraq) by lying to the world in an attempt to get Iraqi oil back on the market – take a Macro Econimics course and try some other sources for your thoughts...Peace

But, did you notice that Iraq was the enemy of Iran, which created a tense balance in the Middle East. With the collapse of Iraq, the Islamic sects began terrorizing each other. You forget that Hussein maintained a secular state for the most part, and prevented for decades the inter-Islamic violence that is a world-plague. Now Iran has unfettered control of the Middle East, and has brought much of the Islamic world together, including Turkey. What we've had is 30 years of gross stupidity by all US government administrations.

Unfortunately, we destroyed the one domino which could keep Iran in check. The problems for us are just beginning.

On a side note, did you ever notice how ALL the neighboring Arab countries offer ZERO assistance to the Palestinians, unless it's in terms of military aid?

Larry you are completely correct. Also we put Hussein in power but then Bush decided that 911 was a perfect time to try and finish a war his daddy started and couldn't complete. Now we cannot stop the onslaught of killings/bombings. If we truly killed Sudam to be humanitarian that I think that we should have helped the poor people of Darfur.

The plain truth is none of us readers really knows what is going on in the world, let alone Iraq and Iran. Every news we get is second hand even third hand. It all depends on what news source you choose to believe or rely on. How many of you have ever met and talked with Saddam Hussein or George Bush? How many have been to Iraq or been in the White House? What you need to do is get honest and hard-working representatives in our US Congress. Better still, concentrate on your own state legislature, fix the ills in your own hometown.

I spent almost a year in the middle east with the military in between wars and met some very nice people there. We have to remember that their lifestyle consists of a very passionate belief, too bad its dominated by the extremists that rule by using terror to keep control. The USA is the greatest country on earth due to our freedoms that we DO take for granted all the time. If we put our current government over there in a country where the people are very passionate by thier beliefs all of congress and even the president would never go outside due to fear of riots and other actions. Also remember that Congress declares war and also votes to fund all of the operations not the president thats 4th grade social studies!!!! So if you never served your country and sit here and complain online some of you need to see your local recruiter and give some FREE time to your FREE country. God bless America!!!!
