Police arrest 5, disrupt terror plot, government says

Authorities in Afghanistan have arrested five people who they say were planning to carry out suicide attacks in the capital of Kabul.

Zemeri Bashari, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry, said the people arrested had suicide vests packed with explosives and additional explosives in an SUV. He said they were affiliated with the Haqqani network, a militant group with ties to the Taliban.

The people were driving from Logar province in a "high-profile Lexus vehicle" and counter-terrorism police arrested them in the village of Banhi Sar before they reached the interior of Kabul,

Bashari said police helped avoid "a bloody attack."

I think its a step in the right direction, showing its people that things are changing for the better and that the government can protect them.
