No charges in Roethlisberger case

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will not face criminal charges, a Georgia district attorney said Monday.

Roethlisberger was accused last month of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman at a Milledgeville, Georgia, nightspot.

"The sexual allegation against Mr. Roethlisberger cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt," said Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit District Attorney Fred Bright. "Therefore, there will be no arrest made, nor criminal prosecution of Mr. Roethlisberger for his actions here on March 5, 2010."

What amazes me is how all you that have posted know the facts of this case so well. How did you get the insight to know that Ben is guilty???

these sports guys are in fact targets; pay me or I call the cops. This is not a case of did he shag her, it's whether or not is was consentual. If they don't prosecute, it's a finanaical savings as they cannot prove guilt... She's trying for a cash settlement while I work for a living...

Unless she and her lawyers think there is overwhelming evidence for a ciminal conviction, they will walk away from testifying in a criminal case (no $ there.) They will go straight for a payoff in a civil suit, where the burden of proof is much lower than a cminial case. Remember Kobe Bryant?

Actually Gilbert Arenas was suspended for the remainder of the season and was sentenced to spending his jail time in a half way house. He did not really do anything to hurt anyone else. Kobe maybe got away with something, but I am sure that it cost him some major dollars. OJ got away with murder. As far as Ben goes. the story is not complete yet.

So Michael Vick can harm animals and gets suspended and does jail time but Big Ben harms humans (women to be in fact) and nothing happens to him. I guess in some circles dogs are MORE IMPORTANT than women.

Big Ben is probably guilty of being stupid, why mess around with these bimbo's, in bars?
With his money he can find a Lady that won't sue him. Big Ben use your head next time. Sorry lady NO pay Day for you, next time make sure you can prove what you claim. Ben should sue you.

Ben, on and off the field, represents the great city of Pittsburgh and in particular one of the greatest organizations in the NFL. If he hasn't the ethic fiber to stay away from places where he is going to get himself into these kinds of messes, then maybe he isn't worthy of wearing the Black and Gold.

Can a man be victimized in this country other than by another man? That case resulted in the only way it could ...by not enough evidence. Women are victims even if the proof is to the contrary.

Of course not! Is it perhaps because his skin is of a lighter persuasion?! I mean lets take a look at Mike Vick who was charged and sentenced to 23 months in prison for dogfighting and Plaxico Burress who was charged and sentenced to 2 years in prison for accidentally shooting himself in the thigh! However, Ben Roethlisberger is accused of assaulting 2 women and isnt even charged with a crime!!!! Such injustice!!!

What a bunch of crap! Based on the DA's the comments, Roethlisberger walks into the bathroom with this drunk woman and she comes out with lacerations on her genitals. Hmmmm. Maybe she fell on the toliet going to the bathroom?? Hardly. He either got lucky that they really didn't have enough DNA (NOT!) or something fishy is going on in GA.

For all of you railing on BR for being rich and buying his way out of this, don't you think that its possible this chick saw a quick way to get cash. I mean for christ sake, he was hanging out with cops when the assault supposedly happened. Women see these guys and figure that they will reach a settlement out of court. Easy cash! Ben needs to get a girlfriend and stop messing with these gold diggin hoochies.

Don't worry this false sense of entitlement will catch up to RAPElisberger. It always does. Remember that OJ was free and clear until he decided to become a burglar. Burress was a constant source of trouble in Pittsburgh, then it caught up to him in NY.

Mark my words, unless Rapelisberger truly changes his ways, sooner or later he'll hang himself.

If anyone here listens to the local sports news in Pittsburgh or has any 20-something year old friends in Pittsburgh that like to go out on the weekends, you would know that Roethlisberger has a caveman attitude when it comes to women. It is common for him to grope and verbally assault women out at bars. He has been known to drive to really high crime neighborhoods and push women out of the car if they are unwilling to do exactly what he wants.

I don't know if he was guilty or innocent of the rape allegations, but I do know that he is a sexist individual. For the sake of the young women of Pittsburgh, I really hope that he gets some serious counseling.
