No charges in Roethlisberger case

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will not face criminal charges, a Georgia district attorney said Monday.

Roethlisberger was accused last month of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman at a Milledgeville, Georgia, nightspot.

"The sexual allegation against Mr. Roethlisberger cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt," said Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit District Attorney Fred Bright. "Therefore, there will be no arrest made, nor criminal prosecution of Mr. Roethlisberger for his actions here on March 5, 2010."

He followed a 20 year old intoxicated woman into a bathroom while his guards watched the door and you blame the girl for messing up a good guys life? That is a good guy? Is that the type of behaviuor you would like to see in your son?

I watched the news conference and it appears the victim asked that it not be pursued. Take into account that she was highly intoxicated and that it was he said she said, it appears they honestly did not have a case one way or another. They also said due to her intoxicated state she made several different statements. I am not saying if she was or was not raped but I totally get why they would not file charges.

For those who think this is just another privileged jock getting off easy, please don't forget how quick everyone was to try, convict, and execute the Duke lacrosse team for just this kind of allegation. There are two sides to every story, and if one doesn't hold up, then the conclusion is clear. Sounds like the DA was doing his job.

A guy doesn't get accused of two sexual assaults by accident. If there are many witnesses, and they are all Ben's employees and buddies, well you have 10 words against 1. That's why Big Ben walked!

Ben, put on a helmet on both your head, and well......

I don't think Ben would ever rape anyone. However, he better realize he can not go out and party like other people, have sex, and think it doesn't matter.

He is a public figure with a lot of money, and that brings gerat scrunity and liability.

Ben, it is time to grow up and realize you can't party like everyone else. Better start taking a video cam with you evertyime you go out.

If he is not charged, then charge the woman for wrong accusation.

It did ot didnt happen.... People cant judge the guy unless they know the facts. Guys get off with this stuff all the time, not just sports stars. So its not all about money
Im not a steelers or Ben fan...Im just saying. dont say he just got off because he is a celebrity... All the facts are reported by the media. If we believe everything the media says than what? Exactly.

Oppinions are a dime a dozen but here is mine... Celebrities especially those that are gifted athletes that only have a limited amount of time that their bodies with endure football should stay out of situations that could even shorten their careers even more. Case point: Motorcycle riding with no helmets! Puting yourself in situations where you may be incarcerated for long periods of time! Can't we take Plaxico and Mike Vick and just learn something or do we need another hit to the head to knock some since in there.

We really cannot pass judgement. It's her word against his. The only person who knows is the man upstairs, You can't lie to him.

While I certainly don't like "celebrity justice" situations, I don't know that it what happened in this case. From a press conference with the DA, he stated that the accuser was over the legal alcohol limit and could not clearly recall a lot fo details. The investigators were also unable to find anyone who could verify any part of the accuser's story. Celebrity or not, the testimony of one fuzzy-headed person is not going to convince a jury to convict.

I am not saying Ben is innocent. I am just saying that the DA is doing the right thing by not wasting tax dollars on a trial he has zero hope of winning.

This still won't stop a Civil Case. She can still get money. Probably already did and dropped the charges.
