[Posted at 6:29 p.m.] A second Prince George's County, Maryland, police officer has been suspended in the case of a University of Maryland student whose beating by officers wielding nightsticks was caught on video, officials announced Wednesday.
The Prince George's County Police Department had announced the suspension of one officer on Tuesday, and more suspensions are expected soon, according to police Lt. Andy Ellis.
Ellis said that all the officers involved in the beating incident have been identified and that at least two more are expected to be suspended. The department has not released the names of those suspended, but will once all the suspensions are made, Ellis said.
In addition to investigations by the police department and the Maryland Attorney General's office, the FBI is investigating the beating incident, Ellis said.
