Blagojevich defense team seeks to subpoena Obama

Lawyers for Rod Blagojevich filed a motion Thursday seeking to subpoena President Barack Obama to testify in the corruption case against the former Illinois governor.

The 10-page motion contends Obama must have information in the case because the charges against Blagojevich involve alleged deal-making to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Obama when he became president.

"The defense understands that the President of the United States of America is not a routine witness and would not request his appearance if it did not think he was critical to the liberty of Rod Blagojevich," the motion says.

According to the motion, Obama's public assertion that he had no involvement in talks about filling his Senate seat contradicts information from another witness in the case.

In addition, the motion says Tony Rezko, a political fundraiser convicted of fraud charges who has links to Obama, also is a government witness in the case and Obama can offer testimony about him.

Yeah, Obama is trying to sneak his problem away with it. Hope Blagojevich continued to have Obama be in Court.

Only in America can a a man become governor, get fried, and then be on a reality show all in about the same time span. But everyone must admit that if your life is about to be over for quite sometime while in prision, I know that anyone would want to throw a hail mary.

Doesn't anyone believe that he's innocent until proven guilty? He has a right to have Obama testify if it can help his case. The fact that he's the President should have no bearing on him being called as a witness.

does this moron oops ex governor really thinks that his case is going to fly and Oboma will appear in congress to testify? wow good luck ex governor you are better off getting in touch with Sarah palin for some Tea party buillshit radical movement than trying to get the president to appear and try to set you free. you could just ask for a presidential pardon may be he will help you but your case needs to be over already and just do your time and come out im sure you will still be popular.. good luck governor

My view is that we need a president that does have foreign policy skills. Our next president must rely on his own skills not those of advisers. In this world of Islamic-Fascism and Militant Socialism, we need to have a president that will not be flexible to the world dictators. We need a president that will not talk or bend to the will of tyrants. We cannot afford to have a president that will follow the ideals of appeasement like Neville Chamberlain and his famous 1938 quote ‘Peace in Our Time’(a year later WWII started). Sadly, I see Barack Obama, not being strong enough or independent enough for our nation and global politics. I see Obama as following the failed ideologies of Appeasement and Socialism.

After seeing the appalling performance on Celebrity apprentice...unbelievable Governor of Illinois, cannot lead a simple project, can't turn on a computer, can't type never talked straight...lost all hope in his trial. Sounds as guilty as accused. It is just despicable, a disgrace to now try to bring down who everelse he can with him.
