Obama slams Arizona immigration bill

President Obama criticized a controversial new immigration bill in Arizona on Friday, calling it "misguided."

"Our failure to act responsible at the federal level will only open the door to irresponsibility by others. That includes, for example, the recent efforts in Arizona which threaten to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans, as well as the trust between police and their communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe," the president said at a naturalization ceremony for members of the military.

"In fact, I've instructed members of my administration to closely monitor the situation and examine the civil rights and other implications of this legislation. But if we continue to fail to act at the federal level, we will continue to see misguided efforts opening up around the country."

He added, "As a nation, as a people, we can choose a different future - a future that keeps faith with our history, with our heritage, and with the hope that America has always inspired in the hearts of people all over the world."

Since when did any country consider border crossers instant citizens with rights of a citizen? Most countries put illegals in jail, or worse. These border crossers are illegal aliens. They are not immigrants. They want special privileges that others must wait in line to have....legally. Illegals equals jail time, legals equal citizens rights. Big difference. Anchor babies born to illegals are not American citizens. They are children of foreigners who are citizens of their parents country, not this one. Stepping over the border does not give someone the right to protest here while carrying their foreign flag. They need to go back to their home country and protest the bad conditions there, not bring their problems to this country.

Obviously some of you people don't know what it takes to become legal. To get papers to this great country you have to pay thousands of dollars, which is kind of hard when you can barely afford a piece of bread in Mexico. The only reason they don't try to get their papers is because they don't have the money to do it. If you were poor and your children had the opportunity to have a better life elsewhere wouldn't you do anything in your power to give them that life? I have a friend that was working 12 hours a day every day and only made 100 dollars a week and that was on a good week.

For all of you who think that your ancesters came here "legally" think again. Your ancesters came here and killed the only people that this land really belongs to, which is the Native Americans. Your ancesters killed people to get a better life. When is the last time you saw an immigrant kill a white man because he wanted to live here? Stop you ignorant racism and pray to God that he doesn't punish you for it.
