Obama slams Arizona immigration bill
President Obama criticized a controversial new immigration bill in Arizona on Friday, calling it "misguided."
"Our failure to act responsible at the federal level will only open the door to irresponsibility by others. That includes, for example, the recent efforts in Arizona which threaten to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans, as well as the trust between police and their communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe," the president said at a naturalization ceremony for members of the military.
"In fact, I've instructed members of my administration to closely monitor the situation and examine the civil rights and other implications of this legislation. But if we continue to fail to act at the federal level, we will continue to see misguided efforts opening up around the country."
He added, "As a nation, as a people, we can choose a different future - a future that keeps faith with our history, with our heritage, and with the hope that America has always inspired in the hearts of people all over the world."

Mr President – I am behind you 100%. Keep US as a compassionate world leader, don't let others take away our heritage. Just because someone makes it legal, doesn't mean it's right. We need to learn from the history of how this country treated Blacks in the name of the law – it was legal, but definitely not right at all !!
This law is awful and racist what about the people that look white that are from other latino countries they will not get the same treatment because they appear to be white this is no way to make people suffer and is not an answer to the problem with illegals in this country. People has no heart! We all fail to forget that we too once was "illegals" coming here for a future for our families and put the Indians to live on reserves what about this. There needs to be an immigration law that weeds out the gangs, drug dealers, and threats to our country! We are the land of the free and we all have certain rights! Stop breaking up families, an immigration reform is possible and it is possible to clean up our country up but stop coming up with foolish laws, bills, and deciding if people are illegal by the color of there skin! I say stand up for what is right, and stop what is wrong thanks!
I hunt foreigners ie americans etc, who are outside the US without the proper visas, who commit crimes in the country they are in and who are wanted in the US. Now, you don't like it? Arizona has the law. Oh, I see its OK to have this law in the US, but you want US citizens to do what the hell they want outside the country? I am a US born citizen. My operational area is Mexico. Am I a traitor now? The US and its people are such hypocrits. I will have a good laugh when your US dollar is worthless, because it is. I have moved my assets to a Mexico beach property and excess funds to gold coins. When things go to crap to remember me. You need to prepare when the paper dollar is no longer worth anything. When the term racist, racism, racial and the like are used the immediate antagonist envisioned is a white person. AZ has an illegal immigrant problem never addressed by the Federal Government for decades. However, white immigrants must go through the immigration process or be turned away i.e. being found in the country without valid paperwork. If the Latino illegal immigrants are given preferential treatment via amnesty or simply allowed to continue on the way things have been going on for decades and white immigrants from Europe will be turned away then it would appear that whites are being racially profiled and forced to adhere to the immigration policy of the US while Latinos are not. Supporting the preferential treatment of latino illegal iimmigrants is racist against white immigrants. It would seem the President thinks the current State initiated effort to fix the immigration is "misguided" meaning he doesn't support the effort. Therefore, without a plan to correct the preferential treatment of Latino illegal immigrants and no support of AZ it would appear the President is a racist.

Many of these illegal 'immigrants' aren't immigrants at all. They have no intention of staying here or assimilating into our society. If you're already here illegally and have no qualms about breaking into our country or stealing services form our citizens, where do you draw the line? Armed robbery? Murder? (Ok, apparently not even there) If you're here illegally, you are a criminal and need to be treated as such, for the good of ALL America's people.
Arizona had no choice but to step up to the plate because our Federal government has had MORE than an ample opportunity to deal with this problem, and have run away with their tail between their legs every time.
People are saying we are crinimals because we are here iligally we do iligal things everyday speeding, not wearing seat belt, run red light etc... so we should treat everyone in the US like criminals..
Oh yeah give it a few more years... WE THE PEOPLE (ILIGALS) WILL BE THE MAJORITY....SO I WOULD SUGGEST TO START LEARNING SPANISH... 🙂
Pam , generally we Texas are a more kinder gentler and compassionate people as exemplified by the Bush family. W. Bush tried to give Amnesty to Mexicans, Jeff bush is married to a Mexican women and George Sr. & Barbara support a immigration sanctuary in Houston. Way to go Texas, we will never be a racist state like ARIZONA.
KAREN, sounds to me like you not only discriminate, but are also not Knowledgeably when it comes to immigration laws. Celebrities have work or tourist visas there for they are not illegals .I wish you were right though,Because I HATE Simon Cowell , they should deport him.
