At least 5 dead in Iraq factory explosion

An explosion inside an iron factory near a northern Iraqi city killed five workers and injured 15 on Sunday, officials said.

The workers were melting iron inside the factory when a mortar round hidden in the heap went off, according to officials.

Police said it was an accident and not a terrorist act.

The blast took place about 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of Irbil. Irbil, located in the autonomous Kurdish region, is about 350 kilometers (217 miles) from Baghdad.

    Guess these are untrained workers.

    1. How exactly does a mortar go off, and it not involve terrorist action? I'm sure the U.S. didn't leave unexploded ordinance hanging out.

    2. That is a mighty quick investigation on the part of Iraqi Police, i'm not even gonna finish the rest of this part, because everyone is already thinking the same thing I am. Propoganda, propoganda, and more propoganda.

    3. Why answer number 2 the way I did? Because minor factory explosions, especially in foreign countries don't make news here. Also, because of the speed of the statement denying that it was terrorist action.

    4. Lastly, the Iraqi Police can't investigate a damn thing. It takes time to positively confirm or deny, or even to just get the facts of the matter straight, they reached their conclusion within a few hours that it wasn't terrorist action. O.k.
