A suicide bombing and ensuing gunbattle killed seven people and wounded 41 others Tuesday in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu, an emergency official said.
A suicide bomber detonated explosives at an African Union base, said Ali Muse, the head of the local ambulance service. The bombing was followed by a gunbattle and shelling, he said.
Islamist militant group Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was in retaliation for the killings of al Qaeda in Iraq leaders earlier this month.
