Mexico issues advisory for Arizona

Mexico's Foreign Ministry on Tuesday issued an advisory to Mexicans living and working in Arizona following the signing of a controversial law to stem illegal immigration in that state.

In Arizona "there is a negative political environment for migrant communities and for all Mexican visitors," the advisory states.

The new law requires Arizona police to determine whether people are in the United States legally if there is a reason to suspect they aren't.

Although the new law doesn't go into effect until 90 days after the close of the state's legislative session, the Mexican government advised its citizens in Arizona to begin carrying all immigration documents with them immediately "to avoid needless confrontations."

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, a Republican, signed the controversial legislation into law Friday. Supporters say it is needed to control illegal immigration.

The advisory points Mexicans in Arizona to the state's five Mexican consulates for legal advice if they feel they have been subjected to abuse by authorities.

"As long as no clear criteria are defined for when, where and who the authorities will inspect, it must be assumed that every Mexican citizen may be harassed and questioned without further cause at any time," the advisory states.

moshpit said:"This law has EXTREME abuse potential against US citizens. If you're an american citizen who LOOKS mexican and don't have your drivers license on you, you could be arrested until they determine you ARE legal? That is unconstitutional to have to carry identification for US citizens to prove who we are"

Im repeating myself here, go up and read my other comment to see original context but it still applies-

The "constitution" you are talking about allows the authorities to arrest a person in the USA (all 50 states and territories) and hold them for up to 48 hours (2 days) with NO charges being filed... in essence, they can "constitutionally" arrest you and hold you for 2 days without having any reason in the end.

The law doesn't say people have to "carry ID"... it says they have to prove they are legal... which should be a matter of just giving your name/DOB/ or Social security number for the cop to call it in like they normally do for ALL citizens (yes even whites lol)

Thats what happens when a cop pulls you over, they "run" your information and find out if you have any felonies, crimes, tickets etc...

We ALREADY live in a police state, and it is totally constitutional... unfortunately.

All Latinos are urged to avoid AZ. Visit New Mexico, CA, or Texas but don't go contribute any money to AZ

    # 369 to JOE the writer. Joe you are not educated. In order for any American to get to any one of those locations, they would need to have a passport.

I heard from a most reliable source that in Maricopa County Arizona they will begin to require all Latinos to wear a bright yellow "L" on their clothing, and all Latino owned businesses will be required to display this "L" on their marquees.

My family from Mexico was planning to visit the grand canyon next month, but with this type of xenophobic law there is no way they are coming. Not to this state or to any other state in the nation. Many people might ignorantly argue that we don't need Mexican tourists in Arizona, but Mexican tourists do help the economy of the state and the country. Apart form Canada, Mexican tourists are the ones that visit the US more frequently than any other country in the world.

What part of "Illegal alien criminal" does Mexico not understand? The US is being literally invaded, one family at a time. Well, we're tired of it, and we are finally fighting back!

...try being born here in the states as a second generation Mexican-American and getting harrased all the time by the law, because of what you look like. Ridiculous
Anchor babies like this should be outlawed. Just because a pregnant one drops her load on American soil should not give the American taxpayer another "citizen" to raise.

ALL people here should be included. If I go to Mexico, they will not print a ballot in English for me, I will have to learn Spanish, I will need to be there legally or face the consequences. They will not take care of me memdically, feed me, etc. So I figure turn about is fair. Perhaps if we targeted ALL illegals, 911 wouldn't have happened. If I think I am going to be questioned, I have my paperwork. This also might get legal people to update their paperwork when they need to. I am having anough trouble supporting what I need to as my social security stagnates and my medicare goes up.

  14. Its the Law...

Unfortunately, the majority of illegals have ruined it for the the legal immigrants that may share the same culture background. Therefore, thank the illegals whom will possibly cause you as a legal immigrant to be asked if you have proper documentation to be out of the country you were born in to.

Its not a new law. Its a existing law that people have taken advantage of and now its being enforced.

Again, great great great grandparents became citizens and the following generations became USA citizens. Those of you saying it is someones land from hundreds of years ago. You were not even alive then. Its whom is legal is the facts. There are laws in place to ALLOW LEGAL Citizenship. Its not color or what country your from. EVERYONE has a chance to become a legal citizen. Which is not the case and option in all countries. Do it RIGHT or don't complain. ITS NOT ABOUT COLOR race card players.
