Mexico issues advisory for Arizona

Mexico's Foreign Ministry on Tuesday issued an advisory to Mexicans living and working in Arizona following the signing of a controversial law to stem illegal immigration in that state.

In Arizona "there is a negative political environment for migrant communities and for all Mexican visitors," the advisory states.

The new law requires Arizona police to determine whether people are in the United States legally if there is a reason to suspect they aren't.

Although the new law doesn't go into effect until 90 days after the close of the state's legislative session, the Mexican government advised its citizens in Arizona to begin carrying all immigration documents with them immediately "to avoid needless confrontations."

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, a Republican, signed the controversial legislation into law Friday. Supporters say it is needed to control illegal immigration.

The advisory points Mexicans in Arizona to the state's five Mexican consulates for legal advice if they feel they have been subjected to abuse by authorities.

"As long as no clear criteria are defined for when, where and who the authorities will inspect, it must be assumed that every Mexican citizen may be harassed and questioned without further cause at any time," the advisory states.

As an american citizen you do carry proper identifaction, you are required to by law. A drivers lic. State issued ID, etc. When Americans travel, we are required to carry a passport. Why should it be any different for people coming here?

Gone are the days when the illegal's can come and go and do as they please without fear of "prosecution" (not persecution) and deportation. All states need to enact similar legislation since the Fed's don't want to do anything about it.

We don't need anymore illegals in our country. Those wanting to become citizens of the USl can stay. If not, go home.

To all the legals complaining about this that they will be 'profiled' I say – BFD. Get over it. If we didn't have so many illegals we wouldn't have this problem. So what if a cop asks for your ID – don't you have one? You are upstanding citizens with jobs and pay taxes, you must have some type of id and social security card – don't you carry anything on you when you go to the store? EVERYONE should always have ID on them otherwise you are considered a vagrant – white, black, asian – no matter. Check it out. Plus what if you got hit by a car – no id, no notifying your spouse. So stop with the crap that you would be out of your home and left your legal id at home – that's complete BS and nobody can say it's not. Unless you're 5 years old. I love this law and might even move TO Arizona because of it. I'll gladly show any law enforcement officer my identification and proof of citizenship.

Many are saying "Whats so bad about carying your ID with you...I don't care if I get ID'd"
Lets say a 10th generation American of hispanic heritage goes out on the town. While walking on block 1 gets aked for ID to prove they are a citizen (OK not too bad) then block 2 gets pulled out of thier group of firends and asked to prove they are not illegal, then by the third block starts to get irrate so the cops pull them into jail for resisting arrest. Now put yourself in thier shoes, you would NOT be O.K. with it, and don't lie to yourself.

The Native American Indians should have had that bill in place hundreds of years ago. Would have solved that pesky British and European immigration problem right at the start !

Let's get real. Illegal means you have no right to be here. I grew up in a small town that was about half Mexican American & you could usually tell by the clothing if someone was a 'wetback' or citizen. If I go (legally or otherwise) to another country, I am told to carry my passport at all times.
As far as citizens getting harrassed, it is usually simple after talking to you to determine if you are here illegally. And do you really thing the same cop is gonna stop you day after day? Only if you've pissed him off with an attitude or something.
I work with kids from all over the world & they jump thru hoops to be able to come here legally to study in our universities. It's not fair to them for us to look the other way & let illegal border crossers live here & enjoy the benefits afforded to our CITIZENS.

To Linda K. Senes ~ when one of your 5 children or 11 grandchildren are shot and killed at the hands of an illegal alien you may feel differently. We would love for you to go ahead and move to Mexico however. It's people like you that are taking jobs away from Americans, allowing a woman to live off the system illegally because she popped out 10 kids on our land, and obviously condoning these illegals action when they don't think the law applies to them. Sleep well tonight ... hope no one rapes or shoots you in the head while you sleep.

Izzy. European ancestors DID NOT come here illegally. There was no established government, and Indians did not "own" land, they used it and moved on. The concept of ownership of land was a foriegn concept brought here. Had the Indians established a government, which had borders, and paperwork for citizenship, then maybe you could make that claim. The reality of the situation is that you are comparing apples to oranges. European ancestors coming here in the early 1900 passed through Ellis Island and documented their arrival. The mexicans coming across the border are violating soveriegn law. Try coming up with something better than a foolish andd incongruent comparison of something that happened 528 years ago. You might also want to try supporting the enforcement of United States law.

Ignorance pure ignorance, what is this Russia?  “Where are your papers, NOW” oh please talk about taking away the 4th amendment. Sure we have illegals and it is a crisis but lets not risk others freedoms by breaking down the path our forefathers paved. What’s next, no guns, no freedom of speech? Wake up this is not Washington’s fault as most brain washed tea party members want to believe but it is the fault of the business that employee them. Take a way the jobs by cracking down on those that employee them and they won't come in herds. Why do Republicans always want to take our freedom away? First the Patriot (communist) Act now this. Why do Democrats want extra rights for non-Americans? Wake up America! Will someone run this country with common sense and fairness, Obama is closer than Bush but he needs to reach over to the party some more and the other party needs to wake up and help America by working with him, instead of acting like little babies that hurt America by trying to make the Commander in Chief look bad. Stop employeeing them and watch the decline!
