Mexico issues advisory for Arizona

Mexico's Foreign Ministry on Tuesday issued an advisory to Mexicans living and working in Arizona following the signing of a controversial law to stem illegal immigration in that state.

In Arizona "there is a negative political environment for migrant communities and for all Mexican visitors," the advisory states.

The new law requires Arizona police to determine whether people are in the United States legally if there is a reason to suspect they aren't.

Although the new law doesn't go into effect until 90 days after the close of the state's legislative session, the Mexican government advised its citizens in Arizona to begin carrying all immigration documents with them immediately "to avoid needless confrontations."

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, a Republican, signed the controversial legislation into law Friday. Supporters say it is needed to control illegal immigration.

The advisory points Mexicans in Arizona to the state's five Mexican consulates for legal advice if they feel they have been subjected to abuse by authorities.

"As long as no clear criteria are defined for when, where and who the authorities will inspect, it must be assumed that every Mexican citizen may be harassed and questioned without further cause at any time," the advisory states.

Sheila said, "Wow are you all aware that the United States of America was colonized by immigrants. I guess when it is white immigrants it is ok. Is anyone really surprised by Arizona's actions?Do I need to remind everyone that Arizona was the only state to not observed Martin Luther King holiday even though it was a federal hoilday. A man that preached non violence even though white people were violent towards him. The only reason they changed their decision was because Arizona was boycotted. Arizona is a racist state-it has been as always will be.
Everyone want to act as if America has changed. Oh please. America is the same racist place I was born in 36 years ago.
And for all you so called patriots, I bet the majority have never served in the military.
Well I have and even though I have been discriminated against because I am black and a woman I still served and represented my country that has never represented and stood up for me.

WOW such anger AND such blatant racism on YOUR part, Sheila. I feel real sorry for you that you have such anger and can't get past it. It is extremely regrettable that you have been discriminated against. But then so are those who are elderly or disabled or both. So have been the Irish, the Italians, the Germans, the poor of every race, color, people and tongue. Among those who have been discriminated against most of all here in America have been the native peoples. Your ancestors were enslaved and that is terrible, cruel and unjust. But American society with the complicity of the government had a policy NOT of enslavement, but of EXTERMINATION with respect to native Americans. And YOUR ancestors participated in that attempt to exterminate MY people. Yet, for the most part, we've gotten past our animosity toward others - black and white alike. IT IS LONG PAST TIME TO MOVE ON AND STOP BLAMING OTHERS FOR YOUR WOES!

And, oh yes, I have served in the U.S. military and, yes, I've been discriminated against AND NO DOUBT like you, I'm also guilty of discriminating against others. WHY IS IT THAT THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE TIMES I HEAR THE ISSUE OF RACISM RAISED IT IS BY BLACKS!?

(At least in Arizona you do not have to worry about being kidnapped and held for ransom. You also do not have to worry that you will be caught in the crossfire between two warring cartels or geting murdered just for the sake of murder. Mexico has a lot of balls issuing a travel advisory when their country is one of the most dangerous and corrupt county in the western hemisphere.)

REALLY?!!!!!! NOW ALL YOU HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IS THE HORRIBLE CRIME RATE IN PHOENIX OH AND THE DECLINING ECONOMY AND NOT TO MENTION GETTING SHOT BY GANG MEMBER OF ONE OF THE MANY GANGS THIS BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY HAS TO OFFER 🙂

Instead of going after somone's legal status. Why did not not pas a law to make it illegal to HIRE an illegal immigrant and enforce that law. Require anyone seeking government assistance to provide a proof of status. Its an inverse approach that would lead to the problem taking care of itself. Not the BS, racist law Arizona passed. This law seems like a segway into the new world order were everyone will be tracked with computer chips and their legal status can easily be challenged.

The fact of the matter, is that there are more illegal immigrants than just Mexicans. Why has the assumption of an illegal immigrant turned to being Mexican. Illegal Immigrants come in all races and not just one. From Canada, Africa, Mexico, China, etc. How will Arizona have reasonable doubt that someone is a legal immigrant? If someone dosent speak english correctly? If they do not LOOK like they are American? This bill is discriminatory in my opinion. Please America, lets not go back to discrimination.

IF YOU"RE NOT HERE LEGALLY –GET OUT ! ! ! You can wait in line like everyone else. Just because you're Mexican, Latino, or Hispanic DOES NOT give you the right to enter this country illegally. If you're in the above group, learn ENGLISH ! It's the language we speak in all 50 of the United States. If you come here illegally, you have no voice or any rights whatsoever. Do not come her thinking you will hang out, sell your drugs and bankrupt our hospitals and overload out schools or not pay any taxes.

For all the 'I'll get stopped becuase I look hispanic' folks – get real. Just as you can tell a person with an accent is from New York, Boston, Texas or the deep south, it is not that difficult to tell by a persons look and/or speech and bhaviors if they are native to Texas, Arizona or New Mexico. I've done literally thousands of interviews from people all over Mexico and the Domincan Republic and i can get a general idea of where they are from or how long they were living in a certain area. This is the equivalent of crying wolf or the sky is falling. This is how the 'immigrant' lobby works, theypoint out every possible way anything that would stem the flow of illegales, or possibly get illegals deported or forced out of work could hbe used against legals. There are multiple law enforcement data bases that could verify the status of a person in just a few moments. Ever run to the store and forget your DL and get stopped, or your registration was expired and you didn;t put the new card in the car – 30 seconds of time to correct the problem. We have problems here in southern california where one town runs DUI/Drivers Liscence checkpoints. Darn police have the nerve to check if people driving cars actually have drivers liscence. Of course the illegal immigrant rights groups claim is a 'cover' for finding illegals.

Wow talk about Alarmists, People the Police are not going to go around hunting anybody they feel is not here legaly, No this law change is for when people get in trouble and the police are called or your pulled over. The police are not going to demand proof from every american or person they run across only the obvious ones that are not here legally, Meaning if you cant speak any english when they cops are talking to you...dead give away, you have no ID and are acting funny and cant speak good english ..again. And if your here legally you have no problems since you will be able to prove it, be it their or later. This law only effects people that are having issues with the Law Enforcment and are not obvious legal residents. This law will not effect 99% of the population granted you dont get pulled over all the time or are not a criminal.

what you fools do not understand about the whole bill is that it is prejudice. Even if you are legal getting pulled over and checking for paperwork without doing any other crime is not right. Now your dirty ego-power-hungry cops have a better reason just to pull someone over based on skin tones. Luckily for all that are white, this legislation does not apply to you, so you can easily say "i do not see anything wrong, if you're legal, than you're legal." <= that is something you white people seem to not comprehend well. How many times have you been pulled over for no reason? I'm not trying to hold up the race card but this is exactly what the bill is implying on doing.
