Talk show host apologizes for comments on Tim Tebow
A Boston sports talk show host has apologized for likening former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow's NFL draft-night party to a "Nazi rally."
"Anyone who listens to the show regularly knows that I am not the most articulate person in the world, and on Friday, we were joking around about the NFL Draft. And unfortunately, I made a regrettable statement about the Tim Tebow draft party that ended up offending some people. And I truly, truly can tell you that was not my intention," Fred "Toucher" Toettcher said in a statement given to CNN affiliate WHDH on Monday. "I apologize to you that were offended. You know, I just apologize, and I regret what I said."
Toettcher made the comments Friday on the Toucher and Rich Show on WBZ-FM, the morning after Tebow was selected 25th in the first round of the NFL draft by Denver.

Toucher isn't a talk show host – he hosts a comedy based radio show. Big difference. I, for one, really miss him here in Atlanta.
That being said, the comments were obviously way out of line and it is not OK for anyone to go down this path – conservatives, liberals, whatever. And no rational person would defend comparing Obama to Hitler. But both siders have their nut jobs or those just looking for shock value.
Toucher's apology was very sincere and he reitereated he regretted saying it – as opposed to many that will just say they regret people were offended. Give the guy a break – his job is to entertain during a fast paced show and all of us would say stuff we regret in that environment. If this was indicative of his true feelings and consistently happening, it would be one thing but that clearly isn't the case.
As a black woman, I find the remarks towards Tebow very disgraceful, prejudice and low class. I do think there is sooo much hypocrisy going around...some of the comments being slung at the President is just as bad, but dismissed by the same people who are upset by the Tebow comments.
Tebow is white, he's allowed to have non-white or all white friends if he wants!
No one made a comment of the black families on draft day that had not one white face in the crowd, even though most had a good mix.
To me.... a good party will have a good mix of cultures and races, but he does not have to agree with me...it's called America, land of the free!
Ignorance is sooo ramapnt in this country, I'm so sad for the low life white and black people making everyone else upset over their lack of class, morals, values and tact!

The oversensitivity of these media watchdogs is downright comical in itself. Get a clue. Toucher wasn't actually accusing Tebow of hosting a nazi rally, it was a joke. No one is "threatened" by Tim Tebow. He's a very public figure who has taken his fair share of praise and ridicule during his time in the spotlight. It's all part of the game.
The right to free speech also includes the right to offend people with that free speech. No one granted anyone the inalienable right not to have their delicate sensibilities shaken from time to time.
Funny, when I saw it, I didn't notice what race the people were. I just took in the guy's comments when he was being interviewed and while I don't know whether or not he'll be a high caliber NFL player, he does seem to have the attitude that's needed.
I guess you have to be sort of racist to begin with to even look for that stuff.
Lame apology. "Not my intention" is the phrase du jour for someone who said something obviously and intentially offensive - and then their called out. Revise and resubmit a real apology.
Christianity teaches forgiveness, correct? I heard the comment live and it was a very very poor choice of words. He has since apologized and we should all move on unless of course Mr. Tebow disagrees. If it doesn’t bother him then it should not bother us.
If you are a daily listener you know that Fred Toucher keeps the show tight and doesn’t generally make outlandish comments like this one. He is a talented broadcaster who made a mistake. If you made a stupid comment at your work place would you want a second chance?
I enjoy his show immensely, they consistently make me laugh during those dark, stress filled morning hours and I would hate to see him go. Give his show a try, I bet you will like it.
Why is it Mr. Toettcher's remarks and "apology" are back-page news, yet Rush Limbaugh is tarred and feathered by the MSM for his statements about Donovan McNabb, and basically hung in effigy? Mr. Toettcher needs to be reprimanded by the left just as vocally as Rush was....but I won't be holding my breath.....
Tebow needs to stick to football and get OUT of women’s uteruses, along with all of the other righteous bigots! Maybe then he wouldn’t be such a target for the shock jocks.

Who cares what color the people were at his party..If he was black and this guy said his party looked like a civil rights rally, he could not leave his house and would have to go into hiding with Kramer..No body ever said anything about any of the other parties like dez bryant's party..or Rolando McClain's party..nor should they because its all in bad taste. Im all for the 1st ammendment so if this guy wants to say something like that..go ahead..but the next time Imus says something about nappy-headed ho's, I dont want to hear anyone from the left calling for white people's head!
Big deal; Tim Tebow has a bunch of white friends. What's he supposed to do; pull black friends out of his anus?? He's a Christian who plays football; nothing new there. Leave him alone, let him try to play football, and let him decide who he wants to be friends with.
Those people were most likely family members and members of his church; maybe only white people go to his church-that doesn't make him a Nazi.
Tim Tebow a Nazi? Wow...what a stretch. Tim was born in the Philippines and calls Filipinos his people. His Dad still has an active ministry in the Philippines and makes frequent travels to the country. He is kind hearted, and one of the best sports personality one can only hope for in other sports figures.
One thing sure, personality and sincerity...he is BETTER than 99.9 percent of ALL SPORTS figures. Only Drew Brees can be as good personality wise....
And BTW...at least Tebow can show a birth certificate where he was born, not hiding his place of birth, unlike some world leader out there who can't prove his citizenship!
