Manager: Bret Michaels' tour could resume in late May

Bret Michaels' recovery from a brain hemorrhage suffered last week is going well enough that his concert tour could resume in a month, according to a statement on his website. The rock singer and reality TV star suffered a massive brain hemorrhage and was hospitalized Friday.

"Even though yesterday was a minor setback, doctors remain hopeful for a full recovery and plan to release more specific information next Monday," his road manager Janna Alias said in the statement.

Tuesday's statement from Elias disclosed Michaels suffered "a side effect from the brain hemorrhage called hyponatremia, a lack of sodium in the body which leads to seizures." Doctors still have not pinpointed the "exact cause of the rupture" in Michaels' brain, she said.

"He is responding well to tests and treatments," Elias said.

Michaels, 47, was the lead singer for the '80s glam-metal "hair band" Poison. He became a reality star by headlining the VH1 show "Rock of Love with Bret Michaels." He has also appeared on "Celebrity Apprentice."

"At this time we are planning to resume the tour May 26th in Ft. Smith, Arkansas provided there are no further complications or setbacks," Elias wrote.

Take a break damn it and listen to the doctors. Frickin show business people don't care about your status unless your making money for the business.

It seems a bit premature to schedule tour dates doesn't it! At least wait until he's out of the hospital and feeling better.

This sounds like something the manager has to say to keep the tour sponsors calm!!! It also sound like BS, a brain hemorage is similar to a stroke. Also, diabetics take a bit longer to heal than those without diabetes.

Also, why is CNN not focusing on the fact that a stage prop fell on Michaels at the 2009 Tony awards? That show was not six months ago and a slow bleed could have started then? I'm sure the producers, stage hand union etc... are watching this very, very, closely. Someone may have to open up the check book and start writing.

In my opinion, these are all possibilities.

mr. michaels- please, please, please for the love of god and the TIME it will take you to heal. do not, do not, do not listen to anyone but your heart. take time, you hopefully will be given a second chance that most humans don't get. STOP, STOP, STOP and smell the life around you. if and when you get back to touring, the gods will tell you when your ready, not your manager........

I have always loved Bret. I pray that he recovers fully. I have had the luxury of meeting him a few years ago in Florida, which was like a dream come true.

Somebody is not telling the truth here. Although I hope for a full recovery for Brett, I have a feeling his touring days are over. My Aunt recently had a "massive hemorrhage" (she's also diabetic, like Brett) and, sad to say, her life is forever changed. She is working HARD to learn how to walk again and she's just grateful that she's still alive.

He's not out of the woods yet. This condition could be fatal. His manager is an idiot for making this statement.

Bret, take some time off. Brain hemorrage is a serious thing, and you just experienced it first hand. Don't let your rep push you on this one. It's not like he "don't mean nothing but a good time". This is serious, man. Take care. Best wishes.

As wonderful as it would be for him to be able to return to touring in May, it is highly unlikely. My neighbor suffered a massive hemorrhage and it was well over a year before he could or was able to return to normal activities! The first 6 months fafterward were considered critical and he was only allowed very minimal activity other than that related to his recovery,

I hope you have a speedy recovery but shouldn't your thoughts be focused on your children and what they almost lost? Twice in a short amount of time you had major health scares and I would think that would make you take a long hard look at your life and the priorities in your life. Get yourself healthy and hang with your daughters. I can't imagine you are that desperate for money and, if you are, I'm terribly sorry you've put yourself in that position. I realize there takes a certain amount of ego to do what you do and, from what I've heard from people who've met you, your ego is quite large. Please don't let your ego take priority over your children and being a father to your children. You can still make music and, in the future, do summer or small or local tours and also enjoy the blessing and privilege of being a regular part of your daughters lives. Maybe you are already doing that but not from what the rest of the world sees I dunno.
