Manager: Bret Michaels' tour could resume in late May

Bret Michaels' recovery from a brain hemorrhage suffered last week is going well enough that his concert tour could resume in a month, according to a statement on his website. The rock singer and reality TV star suffered a massive brain hemorrhage and was hospitalized Friday.

"Even though yesterday was a minor setback, doctors remain hopeful for a full recovery and plan to release more specific information next Monday," his road manager Janna Alias said in the statement.

Tuesday's statement from Elias disclosed Michaels suffered "a side effect from the brain hemorrhage called hyponatremia, a lack of sodium in the body which leads to seizures." Doctors still have not pinpointed the "exact cause of the rupture" in Michaels' brain, she said.

"He is responding well to tests and treatments," Elias said.

Michaels, 47, was the lead singer for the '80s glam-metal "hair band" Poison. He became a reality star by headlining the VH1 show "Rock of Love with Bret Michaels." He has also appeared on "Celebrity Apprentice."

"At this time we are planning to resume the tour May 26th in Ft. Smith, Arkansas provided there are no further complications or setbacks," Elias wrote.

Bret needs to take time off!! Not only do his fans love and respect him and would love to see him be around for a lot longer.... he has two little girls that love and need him! I think he has plenty of money to take time off. Yes, he's very commited to his music but, my god!!!! Don't push it!!!!!

Uh.. Whoever is updating his website is probably smoking some really strong pot! Do they not know that the mortality rate for the type of hemorrhage is about 40-50 percent? Almost everyone who has this type of brain hemorrhage will have some kind of disability. There is no way he will be touring. At least not for 6 months to a year and only that is if he is very very lucky!

Bret just had an emergency appendectomy. Before he could fully complete rehab and get his Type 1 Diabetes blood glucose back in line he suffered what was called a "massive subarachnoid hemorrhage" which I believe is doctorspeak for a hell of a dangerous brainstem stroke that can easily be fatal in a big hurry. Whether caused by an aneurysm or otherwise, this places him in a very fragile state. Being diabetic, it will take him a little longer than the average person to heal. His greatest fortune was likely the fact that he was in great shape when it happened.

He is an energetic man who loves to give his fans what they want.. but as a fan I would rather wait a year, give him some time to rest and recover.. get his health in order and help his daughter with her new diagnosis. Anyone in his camp should be insisting that he takes a little time off to thank his lucky stars to be alive and get strong. No one is going to think any less of him.

Bret, I've been to more of your concerts than I can count. If I had tickets to your concert now, I would totally understand that your health comes first. PLEASE think of yourself and your two precious daughters. Going back on tour is INSANE!!!! Your fans love you too much to have something happen to you when you've been so fortunate and lucky up to now. It's your decision to make. I have and will continue to pray for you. I hope the people around you are looking out for your best interest.

No way. I've seen what a brain hemorrhage near the brain stem does to one other person, and it wasn't pretty. The guy is lucky to be alive and the battle isn't over. Things can get worse over the next 6 weeks, as I have seen before.

I have gone to the newsfeed site for bretmichaels.com,and saw no such statement, and this seems like an attempt to soothe fans that are worried, there is no way that is gonna happen,if he can't even speak properly without slurring his words how will he preform in less than a month, the answer is simple.he won't.I am a big fan and wish the best for his recovery,I just do not see that happening.

I can see clearly through this circus! With the worldwide attention the media has given Bret's medical condition, take a look at how many more hits to his website is getting, how many more albums he is selling, and you can imagine how many more tickets will sell to see him on tour. Only in America can bad news for celebs make them money. I can guarantee bret will risk his life for the paycheck as well!
