Ruling soon on alleged militia members' fate

A federal judge said Wednesday that she will decide soon whether nine alleged members of a Michigan-based anti-government militia should be released from jail on bond.

U.S. District Judge Victoria Roberts finished a two-day hearing Wednesday but did not specify a date when she would rule on the defendants' dention, according to  CNN affiliate WDIV in Detroit, Michigan.

Charges against the alleged members of the so-called Hutaree militia range from conspiring to overthrow the government to attempted use of weapons of mass destruction.

Attorneys representing them said they should be released on bond until they face those charges in court.  But federal prosecutors argued that the defendants were a danger to the community and a flight risk.

Several of the defendants' family members said Wednesday that they would serve as "third-party custodians," making sure their relatives comply with rules if released, WDIV said.

these people have not been found guilty of anything so let guilt be on the false accusers if it be a lie innocent until proven guilty last time i checked this is what happens when the wicked try to reign

Due process in action. Justice will be done, and our land will be ruled by the electoral process, not by whack jobs with guns trying to impose their beliefs on the rest of us. Last time I checked, that was how our Constitution outlined it. Let them haver their day in court, then mete out the appropriate punishment, if any. Why is everybody so surprised? I had this stuff in high school civics.

It doesn't matter that they haven't been found guilty of anything yet. People are held without bail all the time if they are a flight risk or if they pose a danger to society.

Since they STAND ACCUSED of plotting to perpetrate mass murder and overthrow the government, along with the fact they are survivalists who have planned a way to defend a wilderness area with guerrilla-style attacks, I think they qualify on both counts.

I'm not jumping to any conclusions about their innocence and guilt, but the idea of them not being allowed bail seems reasonable to me.

It is the "Right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute New Government". So let them try, if they succeed a revolution has occurred and New Government proceeds. If they fail they are traitors and subject to the law. These guys failed and are subject to law, just as the Founders of the U.S. would have been if the American Revolution had failed. No difference.

There "might" be one of you reading this in a million who might, just "might" know anything about the individuals accused of the alleged wrongdoing and the facts behind their arrest. Believe half of one percent of what you see and hear on the tube. Believe one hundreth of one percent of what the government tells you.

The fabric of our society is disolving right in front of your eyes. We're raising a generation of american idol wannabees. We're kept busy by the lives we lead such that we're not paying attention to the liberties being lost. We're either too tired or too lazy to stand up and be counted. And so the wrong people get elected. And we complain about it.

Wake up people! Never before have there been so many changes (since 9/11) in such a short time. To those of us paying attention it's mind numbing. I look in the mirror and ask, "don't the others see what I see"? It's right there in front of us. Liberties lost.

We are manipulated from the time we get up until we go to bed by corporations and our government. Fools. Every last one of you that can't see what's happening. Do you not know that our own armed forces as you read this, are training to put down a rebellion here? Nuts I am, you say?

Keep watching Glee, Dancing with the Stars and American Idol. You'll all learn a lot more of what I speak of. Fools. Wake up! There is a stranglehold tightening around your very throats.
