U.S. Coast Guard responding to overturned oil rig

The U.S. Coast Guard said Friday it was responding to an overturned oil rig in an inland canal near Morgan City, Louisiana.

The rig is not leaking fuel at this time, the Coast Guard said, but 500 feet of containment boom has been deployed around the rig as a precaution.

The mobile inland drilling unit overturned in the Charenton navigational canal, the Coast Guard said.

Ya, oil over beaches and sea food. Typical Americans. What ya going to do with all that prime real estate and tourist dollars if that oil contaminates all the beaches? Open the Gulf Tar Pits? Then we can shut down the oil sands in Canada. You can mine your sand for a few years to recover it from that for a change.

If hemp production was allowed in masses we could build plastics and such with it. There's a reason it was made illegal by a guy who had ties to the lumber industry. Hemp could replace a lot of things and it'd be bad for those businesses.

This was another accident. Time will pass and we will all go on living our lives. Don't let the propogandists make a bigger issue of this than it is.

This really sounds very suspect to domestic or environmental terrorism. Whats really going on here? there needs to be a detailed investigation as to who or what is behind these "accidents".

I agree and think the same thing.

Don't forget what day all of this went down on, right?

It was 4/20 or in large part national 420 day.

It also coinsided with Earth Day.

I think the fact we don't know what caused the explosion and swat teams are being deployed to rigs that we are not alone thinking this either.

This tradjedy is God's way of telling North Americans that we are using too much oil. My sincere sympathies for those local businessmen and families who are going to suffer the consequences of this enormous spill.

It's amazing how the president lifted the ban on offshore drilling to off-set oil prices and now there is all these problems with our off-shore rigs. This is a way to sabotage the off shore drilling so the big oil co can keep profiting big time with oil at around $80 a barrel. These events are geared to scare the general public and keep the ban. DON'T BUY IT.

I thought Haliburton Co. specialized in preventing or capping off oil leaks of this sort. Oh I forgot!! Haliburton has all their equipment and experts tied up in Iraq and Afghanistan making big bucks off of the war that CEO Dick Cheney dreamed up. Oh well, guess we'll just have to suck it up and thank George and Dick for getting us focused on the important job of fighting terrorism.

Watch where this goes. Look into who, was cementing the well when the explosion happened. Amazing who was contracted to do this work. Our old friend HALIBURTON!
We are losing folks. We are losing fast.

God has nothing to do with this.It is a human error caused by human greed. Just like the Bible is a man made apparatus that serves to control the masses like YOU Craig.
