Super Saver wins Kentucky Derby

Super Saver, ridden by Calvin Borel, won the 136th running of the Kentucky Derby on Satuday.

It was the third Kentucky Derby win in four years for Borel and the first for trainer Todd Pletcher.

Super Saver's primary owners are Bill Casner and Kenny Troutt of Kentucky-based WinStar Farm LLC.

Why would anyone ask anyone other than Calvin Borel to ride their horse?? He can pull out a win anytime anywhere. We love him at Oaklawn Park.

Calvin is making the Debery as boring and predictable as Jimmy Johnson is making NASCAR....

At least no horses had to be put down this year.

Quit knocking Calivin. He's a great jockey! Anything can happen in horse racing ~ and it usually does. The horses and the jockies are totally unpredictabke, If other one has
an "off-day" at the track, they don't win. The statement about the Derby being boring
is nonsense. Get credit where credit is due and stop belly aching just because your horse
    didn't win.

horse racing gods are pretty fickle todd pletcher looses the best horse hes ever brought to the derby and wins anyway with one of his other thanks to another classic ride by boreal
but the real story is the guy who won the dream bet contest and got to bet 100K to win and he bet the winner now thats a very good day

folks,i love racing, but its all based on money. Super saver, ice box and paddy o prado took a lot of money. Its all based on betting. throw the form out the window. i told my wife before the race, don't play horses who won there last race or were beaten more than 5 lengths or finished 5th or worse in last start. horses who have won at a mile or longer as a two year old is a major plus. this happens every year. undefeated horse are the exception. if you follow that rule you end up with super saver and paddy o prado. the only knock of paddy was that he just broke his maiden 2 starts ago.

That makes sense, Becky. Once Calvin Borel's taken everybody else would say it's not worth it. The crowd loves a one-horse race.

Srsly, Calvin Borel is a terrific jockey. And a darn good person too! Did anyone notice how many of his fellow jockeys rode by to congratulate the man? How many track workers high-fived the guy?? By all accounts, he is a decent human being who just knows how to get the best out of his mounts – in essence, he does what he's paid to do and does it well.

    Borel boring?
WOW! I call it talent! When a jock, takes a horse that is NOT a superstar and wins a race their good. When you win the Kentucky Derby with that horse, IN SLOP, WITH 19 OTHERS and put the horse where no other jock will, that is anything but BORING!
PLUS it makes for a great pay off!
Because if it had been that predictable, Super Saver, would have paid 2.20, not 18- 8.80-6.0

Where can I buy a tee-shirt that says "Bo-rail!" or "Ride him like you own him"? (Which is what Pletcher said to Calvin before the Race). Calvin you are a horseman. Pure and simple. Congratulations and, oh, kiss the horse for me.
