The Coast Guard commandant, Adm. Thad Allen, said Sunday that it was impossible so far to know how much oil will leak from a destroyed rig causing an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
"This spill, at this point in my view, is indeterminate," Allen said on CNN's "State of the Union." "That makes it asymmetrical, anomalous and one of the most complex things we've ever dealt with."
The area off limits to fishing as of this writting is about the size of the State of New Jersery, 9k square miles, 5,700,000 acreas, more or less.
Wait until this thing hits land or worse gets caught up in the loop.
My thoughts and prayers to everyone involved in cleaning up this mess.
No more 'deep' water rigs please.
How long will Big oils greed be tolerated? Its time to give up on saving the oil from this gross injustice and drop a bomb on the damb hole in the ground and close it! This should have been done 2 weeks ago, but no they want there oil! Well I want tio live on a clean planet! Stop your greed and finish the job B.P. Better yet order it done now President Obama! Show us the meaning of the word change, and take action now to stop this horiffic injustice! Get out your bunker buster bombs and close this toxic hole in our earth now! Today! It makes no sense to let this go on one minute longer, unless all of you are profiting in some way? Naa I dont want to believe that do you America?
Regarding "Where are all of the other oil companies and countries with their oil resources coming to our rescue?". Do you honestly believe the USA has any interest in letting other countries help clean up this mess and expose how ill-equipped we are in dealing with this? Wouldn't that put a dent in the "we are so great at everything" picture the world is supposed to have of us?
Can someone at CNN ask the question of why BP won't just blow up the oil well with explosives in order to completely close, or greatly reduce the seepage of the oil into the Gulf?
Is allowing the oil to continue to pour into the Gulf in a destructive manner still cheaper then blowing up the well (re-drilling, new pipes, lost of oil production) ?
This spill is actually a GOOD THING because if enough damage is done, if enough people lose their jobs, if enough ocean and coastal areas are destroyed, if oil prices go up high enough, if we f*** up the environment just enough....just enough, MAYBE, just maybe.....we'll finally grow the balls we should've grown forty years ago and get off the oil, drive non-oil cars, and put an end to the greed and death that big oil has been selling us for the last hundred years. Let the whole Gulf of Mexico turn black. Maybe we need this is it finally gets us off of oil for good!
It's easy to blame a company or a politician. But we are ALL responsible. What kind of fuel do you put in YOUR car? Yeah, I thought so. So I guess all these armchair environmentalists aren't really environmentalists after all. What do you heat YOUR home with? Yeah, ditto.
And when gas goes up a couple bucks a gallon, these armchair environmentalists swear its the end of the world. It's ALL OF US that want cheap oil. If a company or politician could create cheaper oil by cutting a few corners, everyone was all for it a month ago.
I'm to blame. You are to blame. We are all to blame for being so dependent on oil.
I want to suggest every Captain on a submarine be contacted and requested to give their suggestion as to how to stop this oil flow. They have so much more knowledge of the ocean and its floor that others don't.
use a convaer 10 feet at 15 degree like you wold use a Paintroller in the wather and roll the oil on a Schip
