Fire erupts at U.S. embassy in Pakistan

A fire broke out Sunday on the first floor of the U.S. embassy building in the Pakistani capital, officials said.

The cause of the blaze was unknown, but crews were close to putting it out, according to an embassy spokesman.

Hey, If America leaves Pakistan, they would have no easy access to terrorize Afghanistan! Thats why they are putting in so much money to build a new embassy in Islamabad!

I dont understand why India is brought into picture in some of the above posts. One of the posts has discussion about the Toilets in India...Dude the discussion topic is 'fire erupted in American Embassy in Pakistan' not about Toilets in India.
Reason for fire is unknown,Please dont declare it as terrorism related.

The US is the biggest terrorist state on the face of this earth – look at history. They have overthrown democracies and backed tyrant oppressive regimes which torture and murder the masses – Chile, Gautemala, Iran, Indonesia etc etc. To the US all that matters is that you are a slave government regardless of the number of people you kill, murder, oppress or are un-democratic. The US supported and armed dictators such as Saddam, Shah, Pinochet, Suharto – the list is really endless.

America needs Pakistan more than Pakistan needs American friendship. The sooner we realize this and accept it; the better off we would be. We need to help Pakistan stabilize politically, economically and socially. Otherwise, America will be exposed to a major uncertain geo-political abyss. For American and World trade to florish, we need stability in the worlds largest populated region. Thus, America's economic future relies on the stability of South East Asia. Just imagine if there is absolute turmoil in Pakistan than what would be the rammifications in the region. Just to name a few, the Middle East would be less safe and the price of oil will sky rocket to 100's of dollars overnight, this would lead to major recession in the world; which may translate to worlds worst ever recorded depression. This is just one example, why America and the rest of the World needs Pakistan to be stable and progressive. I can give you many, many more examples but I guess you get the point.

Some people forgot that it was PAKISTAN who made the terorrist taliban and other terorrist groups, so I think we should give pakistan nothing as far as money becuase all the doing with it is make more terorrist.

Pakistan in collaboration with CIA, western Euorope and whole world (except India and Russia), created taliban and won war for the whole world against Russia.(might have been a mistake)
Pakistan is a corridor to central Asia and Middle East.
Has a very important geopolitical position. ...much more
Pakistan always helped USA, but USA abandened Pakistan after getting objectives. USA needs Pakistan more, than Pakistan needs USA.

Pakistan has always supported and assisted the United States. The first comment was started by an Indian.

I can remember when Pakis first came in large numbers to Toronto. A number of them were pushed in front of subway trains. By whom that was never disclosed.

I believe that they imported their terrorism, and range of disfunctional behaviours to NA.

Time to send them "all" back.

SHASHI PATEL, care to explain how the Pakistanis are 50 years behind India? Having visited both countries, I can honestly say that conditions in India are much worst. People in both countries live in horrible conditions. If anything, India is arguably behind the Pakistanis. Your population outnumbers the Pakistanis by a large ratio.

Pakistanis and Indians should understand that antagonizing one another and blaming your countries problems on one another will not solve any of your problems. Fix your corrupt governments. Clean up your third world countries.

While I was in India for study abroad, I saw people literally urinate on the street. These people are born and die there right on the side of the road.

People in India lack access to fundamental necessities such as clean water, and all you can do is blame everything on Pakistan. This was the same logic used by Hitler when the Nazis used the Jews as their scapegoats.

People in both India and Pakistan should grow up. The point of this news story is about a fire breaking out in the U.S. consulate. There are no further details. It is interesting how Indians and Pakistanis both love taking advantage of any occasion they can get to throw feces at each other.

India and Pakistan – Please go educate yourselves.

Im not quite sure how you all can get off track so much with this topic it goes from us being allies with Pakistan, to Pakistan being a nuclear power, to how the US leadership sucks, and continues on to even more new topics like how the US is the largest terrorist group in the world, also to who is going to be the next super power. Now I want to know do all of you have A.D.D. or something. This article is about a fire breaking out in the embassy, now i'm a firefighter and i've seen fires break out in office buildings from morons who are to lazy to go outside to have a smoke, to faulty wiring like Fed-up and James said up at the top. Plus if you think about it when was the last time you heard of a terrorist group trying to start a little trash can fire in the corner of a room, almost every article i've seen they've used BOMBS.

New Kid on the Block, are you serious? China? Yes, they are on their way to being a super power but they poison our animals with melamine in the wheat gluten. Heck, they most recently poisoned their own babies with melamine in the baby formula. They send us jewelry and toys for our children that are laced with lead. China is one of the least ethical countries in the world! If I know a product comes from China I do not buy it. I recently bought some silverware and sent it back after I found out it was made in China. It most likely has lead in it. This is a very dangerous country because they are killing us with the stuff they sell us.
