Gored Spanish bullfighter released from hospital

(CNN) - Top Spanish matador Jose Tomas has been released from a Mexican hospital after being severely gored in a bullfight last weekend, Spain's official news agency reported Saturday.

Tomas was upended and tossed several feet by a bull he was fighting at central Mexico's Plaza de Aguascalientes on April 25. Video captured the near-fatal goring and the matador carried out of the ring with his left thigh soaked in blood.

On Saturday, Tomas was discharged from a hospital in Aguascalientes in west central Mexico. He personally thanked the hundreds of people in Mexico who donated blood to save his life.

"No one can feel more Mexican and more grateful" Tomas said, according to the EFE news agency.

Tomas' release comes a week after he required a blood transfusion of several liters and reconstructive surgery to his femoral artery and vein after the bull's horns tore through his leg.

    I love watching bullfights.
It is good entertainement and very traditional for the hispanic nations.
If you don't like it don't watch

Every one is commentating on banning bull fighting etc, but I wonder if any of those people have actually been to a bullfight, and if they have how many were actually born and raised in a country where bullfighting is sport? Should we ban deer hunting or turkey hunting? At least the matadors give the bulls a chance to fight back.

Compare bull fighting to deer hunting. The main difference is that it's in public. The victims both lie on the ground, bleed, and die. And compare brutish American "Mixed Martial Arts" fights where humans get out there and beat each other into submission on television. So who's better? It's a cultural thing.

Anyone who understands Spanish and is against or unsure about bullfighting, watch 'Toros para Todos' on Spain's Canal Sur. It provides an insight into the rearing of these animals and I think, a pretty persuasive argument for the practice.

Aloha, Diedra Me campaigning ?? Answer my question please. How many babies have been murdered by American abortions in the last 10 years? During the last 10 bullfighting seasons alone?? And, a very nice touch, please explain "fetuses" not babies are murdered!! That is really well done. Walt

@wait your question has already been answered.

there is a complete difference between boxing @ football, and bullfighting. the bull has no choice whether to fight. and the bull actually dies during the process. The bull is more bloody than the matador, the bull is probably dead right now.
