Nigeria's president dead, government minister says

Nigeria's ailing President Umaru Yar'Adua, who gave amnesty to armed militants in the troubled oil-rich Niger Delta region, has died, the country's information minister said Wednesday. He was 58.

Yar'Adua had not been seen in public since November, when he went to Saudi Arabia for treatment of an inflammation of tissue around his heart. He was diagnosed with that condition, acute pericarditis, last fall after he complained of chest pain.

He returned to Nigeria in February, but had remained out of sight.

Vice President Goodluck Jonathan has served as the country's acting leader since Yar'Adua fell ill.

It's time for the Donald Dukes, Nuhu Ribadus, Dora Akinyulis and Ngozi Iwealas to be given the opportunity to rule that moribund country.

Don't really know how to react to the news. How do we believe he just died? Someone we've not seen in months! Many thanks to madam Turai for 'successfully' taking care of her late husband!

My prayers and thoughts goes to the entire Yardua. He was a good and gentle man. It breaks my heart that some people used his health issues to ridicule him at the time he needed Nigerian's support and prayers.
May the good Lord give his Children and the entire Yaradua family the heart to bear this loss.
May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace,Amen.

Turai was the architect of Yar dua's death. The North should promptly nominate her, Vice President, so she can assume the presidency via PDP rigging next year to finish her husband's tenure and actualize her dreams of being the first Nigerian female president! This woman who had withstood all entreaties would make a "good" president of the ilk of OBJ.
