Nigeria's president dead, government minister says

Nigeria's ailing President Umaru Yar'Adua, who gave amnesty to armed militants in the troubled oil-rich Niger Delta region, has died, the country's information minister said Wednesday. He was 58.

Yar'Adua had not been seen in public since November, when he went to Saudi Arabia for treatment of an inflammation of tissue around his heart. He was diagnosed with that condition, acute pericarditis, last fall after he complained of chest pain.

He returned to Nigeria in February, but had remained out of sight.

Vice President Goodluck Jonathan has served as the country's acting leader since Yar'Adua fell ill.

It is sad and could happen to any Nigerian leader or any other president from another country, it is disheartening that the only leader we had that has a university degree is lost, it is a costly lost to the common Nigerian and it may take a herculean task for Nigeria to achieve the 7 point agenda. We hope that Goodluck Jonathan (acting president) will continue with the legacy our dear president has maintained in order to maintain and manage the little peace left in Nigeria. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

A PRESIDENT WITH THE HIGHEST QUALIFICATION EVER TO RULE NIGERIA BUT UNFORTUNATELY, HIS AILMENT NEVER GAVE HIM A CHANCE TO SERIOUSLY IMPACT THE COUNTRY. TO ALL NIGERIANS AND THE WORLD BEYOND, LET US PRAY FOR JONATHAN TO HAVE A PRODUCTIVE GOVERNMENT.

May the soul of yar'adua rest in peace if he's going to heaven.i.e if he has accepted Jesus christ as his personal savior and Lord. But I want everyone to know that the blood of the innocent christians killed by the muslems from abacha's regime is crying against the presidential seat of nigeria.I pray that the political elders of nigeria wil not deprived goodluck jonathan of the presidential seat.08032462282
