American is great at over-reacting to events. Think liquids on airplanes – grannies being searched –
I bet it is nothing but a chance for the New York brass to play macho.

"The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. ... We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means, it is an end. ... How does one man assert his power over another ... By making him suffer. Obedience is not enough. Unless he is suffering, how can you be sure that he is obeying your will and not his own? Power is inflicting pain and humiliation. ... A world of fear and treachery and torment, a world of trampling and being trampled upon, a world which will grow not less but more merciless as it refines itself. ... If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face–for ever."

If we are not going to stop this before it happens, or at least try. Then why do we have our troops engaged overseas? So far we have had several failed attempts and caught them (almost blew that too). My thought is that it is disrespectful of our troops doing their job and we can't seem to do ours here.

Bologne. What a coincidence with the oil spill, that all of a sudden we are getting 'alleged' bomb threats in NYC. The corrupt government, once again, trying to scare the country to distract people from things they are trying to cover up and propel people's attention to something else. The 'terrorist. trick always does it and the American people always fall for it.

Our waters are turning to blood because o fthe oil spill. we are at war with the holy country, babies are being born with birth defects at an alarming rate because we are buying everything from overseas and they are slowely poisioning us. They said they could destroy America without really lifting a hand, and they are doing it. Our president honestly seems to be helping them. The healthcare reform is going to push the last few companies we have in America overseas so they don't have to comply with our laws. We won't have any jobs in a few years. I know the end of time has come up for the past few decades at least once every twenty years but if it is the end of time, there is no need for panic, there is nothing you can do anyway. I honeslty think Obamo knows we are screwed and he wants to go to Mars to get away from it all. LOL! We should have bought only American years ago and this wouldn't be happening now. I feel sorry for my children. The storns and the sheer destruction to our planet are sad. It's obvious that we are going through a major cycle.

Go freemason - imediate death sentence for terrrorists in the USA. I do not want my tax dollars paying for their prison sentence. Better yet, turn back over the government where they came from. Maybe they will get their hands loped off.

This reminds me of London back in the 80s when the IRA was terrorizing the English. Any paper sack left unattended was considered a possible bomb. And it could well be a bomb. You can call it paranoia, but its still safer to check it out than to go on about our business and ignore the possibility of it exploding. The more times we catch the bombs before they explode, the more the terrorist will be thwarted and possibly discouraged.

seriously i hope its nothing but i would rather they shut down times square over an unknown package then take the risk of going through something devastating again. I agree with alot of the other posters from nyc here, living through it once was enough i'd rather the extreme caution
