Officials: Gunmen kill 1, kidnap 4 at Mexico wedding

Gunmen stormed into a church in the middle of a wedding ceremony in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, on Friday, kidnapping the groom and three others, and killing one before fleeing, state prosecutors told CNN Saturday.

"It's unclear if this was gang or drug related," Chihuahua State Attorney
General's Office spokesman Carlos Gonzalez said, adding the incident is still
under investigation.

The shooting victim, described as a male in his early 20s, was shot in the back in the church parking lot, Gonzalez said.

Local reports say he was fleeing from the scene when he was shot. The groom, his uncle, brother and best man were kidnapped.

Ciudad Juarez is the most violent city in Mexico, with more than 2,600 drug-related deaths in 2009.

At least 870 people have been killed in Juarez this year, according to local reports.

A report released in April by the Mexican government said Chihuahua state is the country's hardest-hit state by drug violence, with 6,757 people killed since the start of the drug war at the end of 2006.

And our government wants to let these people into our country! We better start repelling these people from our states now before it is too late. Arizona is seeing this first hand and doing something about it. Why can't our elected officials see this.

Well said.....horribly written, GRIDER. Why are people so damn stupid with commas and composition in general these days? This country is going straight to $h1t, no one knows how to write or even think anymore. Because we do too many drugs instead of paying attention in school? So if we quit the drugs well curb the killing in Mexico AND cease to be a nation of semi-literate idiots? Two birds with one stone...

Nice ideas jt, but it's not proper to start a sentence with the word "because" and well should be "we'll."

That's why I always buy my pot local. Not only am I supporting the local economy, but I am supporting the local convenient store. Everyone wins. And JT, it's a comment board under a short story on a website. Not a dissertation on post hoc ergo propter hoc comments about awful individuals who kill senselessly.

I never implied he was stupid, just pointing out he shouldn't chastise grider about grammatical errors. Sorry if i offended, it wasn't my intent to be rude.

People need to take a stand. Sure, some will die doing it but these thugs will think twice if the crowd rushes them for a head bashing vs. just standing there and feeling lucky that the barrel of the gun is not pointing their way.

the wrong guest: you can begin a sentence with "because" if that sentence is actually a rhetorical question.

These murderers have the audacity to do this in broad daylight & in front of many people, why? Bkoz the local police authorities are not doing anything to stop them, thinking they would be killing each other & in the process doing their (the police) job for them, i say that is a good strategy, why should they waste police lives? There are some good Latinos and many bad ones, we should stop the bad ones from ever coming into our country & doing their bizness here. I am a straight & Law abiding Latino & would very much want these wicked people stopped before entering this country and propagating their disease here. GOD bless America!
