Officials: Gunmen kill 1, kidnap 4 at Mexico wedding

Gunmen stormed into a church in the middle of a wedding ceremony in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, on Friday, kidnapping the groom and three others, and killing one before fleeing, state prosecutors told CNN Saturday.

"It's unclear if this was gang or drug related," Chihuahua State Attorney
General's Office spokesman Carlos Gonzalez said, adding the incident is still
under investigation.

The shooting victim, described as a male in his early 20s, was shot in the back in the church parking lot, Gonzalez said.

Local reports say he was fleeing from the scene when he was shot. The groom, his uncle, brother and best man were kidnapped.

Ciudad Juarez is the most violent city in Mexico, with more than 2,600 drug-related deaths in 2009.

At least 870 people have been killed in Juarez this year, according to local reports.

A report released in April by the Mexican government said Chihuahua state is the country's hardest-hit state by drug violence, with 6,757 people killed since the start of the drug war at the end of 2006.

We really want to bring this arugment back to the 1600's? That will get us somewhere!!!!

We live in a "What have you done for me lately world".

In the last 40 Years what has Mexico ever offered the world?

The country is slowing spinning down the toilet bowl, by every fault of their own.

What is the difference between Canada and Mexico....both started around the same time. Mexico has more natural resources, a better climate, More people and a higher GDP. But yet the people down there have turned that country into a crap hole (seriously thats how I spent one of my vacations – going #2 in the bath tub – It was so bad they should have called in #3.).

It's the Mexican people who have driven that country to where it is today. And just because its bad, they should not want to leave it and come to the US.

If you make a mess – clean it can ask for help.....but its still your mess.

Doug: does this mean all the mess caused by our US leaders is our fault? GW Bush's s%t is certainly not mine...I don't own it. Mexican immegrants don't all own the corruption of their leaders either...your logic is scary. Really scary.

Seriously, Doug? It's people like you that embarrass us Americans. Jesus, it's no wonder why people like andyMac make sweeping generalizations about us. Incidentally, AndyMac, not ALL Americans backed us going into Iraq. I believed (and still do) that it was criminal.

By that way you can not wrap yourself around the American Flag in School or you might offend the Mexicans and the Principle will ask you to leave.

Its not politicaly Correct to say that your are Pro American.

Sorry if I offended anyone....actually I can see too many people being pro american right now...because I am not liking the way this country is going.

I am pro american values of the 1950's – minus any of the racist stuff.

Cut demand = Cut supply. Simple as that. US is the biggest consumer, US is the biggest responsible for the killings, US should be held largely in part accountable for the killings. Another perspective you need to see and ask and address to yourselves: WHY do you LIKE it so much? WHY do you NEED it so much? WHY does your SOCIETY accept it so much? MAYBE, that way, you should see if there is a need to LEGALIZE it and REGULATE it... get to the root of the problem as a SOCIETY, stop being hypocritical and judging, start looking for solutions to the problem.

How about make Jaurez a ghost town?
News announcement telling everyone to get out.
Send in Mexican Military and everyone who stayed behind dies.

I bet the body count would be a whole lot lower.

Leave it a ghost town, make it a Mexican military base.

if you relocate the gangs from their element, you move them from their familiarity.

come on we all know Mexican military has no heart.

question is, what are these gangs building money up for? these small ransoms can't count for much.

If you actually too the time to read my comment it was about the fist Gulf War.

The second one was a mess from the get go. There is a reason Dick, Colin and Norman told Bush one not to invade Bagdad. So as not to make Iran Stronger.

It is it bad for me to so, I dont want "Them Mexicans" coming to the US ileagally?
