Officials: Gunmen kill 1, kidnap 4 at Mexico wedding

Gunmen stormed into a church in the middle of a wedding ceremony in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, on Friday, kidnapping the groom and three others, and killing one before fleeing, state prosecutors told CNN Saturday.

"It's unclear if this was gang or drug related," Chihuahua State Attorney
General's Office spokesman Carlos Gonzalez said, adding the incident is still
under investigation.

The shooting victim, described as a male in his early 20s, was shot in the back in the church parking lot, Gonzalez said.

Local reports say he was fleeing from the scene when he was shot. The groom, his uncle, brother and best man were kidnapped.

Ciudad Juarez is the most violent city in Mexico, with more than 2,600 drug-related deaths in 2009.

At least 870 people have been killed in Juarez this year, according to local reports.

A report released in April by the Mexican government said Chihuahua state is the country's hardest-hit state by drug violence, with 6,757 people killed since the start of the drug war at the end of 2006.

The Mexican's have surrendered their country to the drug cartels without
much of a fight ... What can we reasonably expect of them as citizens?

People talking about "just legalize drugs to stop the violence" seem to be focused on just weed. Cocaine is apart of the word "drugs" and Mexican drug cartels are also into selling that, making even MORE money off that by the kilo than weed. What do u do about coke, folks, or whatever else is out here that Mexican drug lords may be killing over?
Not to mention that I don't think a country of legally high people is a very productive one although we have prescriptionally high folks running round this country but that's different than being stoned or coked out of your mind. My sis does weed and she looks and smells ridiculous when she is high. Eyes red as hell with a dumbfounded look on her grill. Yea, that would be really cute to have to deal with on a regular bases if the everyday Joe/Joelle you encountered looks and smells just like that.

Then again, nevermind. I don't know what I'm talking about. Carry on.

All I read was, "you people", "not proper writing" but what I didn't read was, those
poor fellas that were kidnapped at the wedding! Folks you went off on a tangent
about everything that is wrong/right with the great U.S.A. but there was no
feelings for those guys. Are you that numb to your fellow man who is wrongfully
kidnapped & held for "what?"......shame, shame, & shame! I do hope that those
fella's are released unharmed, but I'm afraid the odds are against it.

Lori:doug...not ghetting soft...just poking fun at everything that is actually between the lines of a lot of what you are saying (not all of what is said is wrong)...all this "us" "them" "us" "you" is such poor reasoning and lets down otherwise entertainable comments or perspectives...as soon as your comments go there you are safe to assume there is something fundamentally worng with the statement or opinion.

And what kind of rational argument / debate are you expecting on the internet on a CNN web page?
