Taliban announce new operation in Afghanistan

The Taliban announced Saturday they would begin a new operation against U.S. and NATO-led troops in Afghanistan, vowing that "all foreign invading forces will ultimately face defeat," according to a statement from the group.

"The Al-Faath (victory) operations will target the invading Americans, the NATO military personnel, foreign advisers, spies who pose as foreign diplomats, members of the Karzai stooge administration and members of the cabinet," the Taliban statement said.

The statement, which listed 10 other targeted groups, said the operation would begin May 10, and would use IEDs, blockades, assassinations, abductions and suicide missions.

Afghan Defense Minister Rahim Wardak said Saturday the Taliban do not have the number of fighters or the means necessary to carry out such plans.

A spokesman for NATO's International Security Assistance Force told CNN that the Taliban's "pledge to attack the very people committed to securing Afghanistan's future further demonstrates that they have nothing to offer the Afghan people but more blood and tears."

Enough is enough. We are in another Viet Nam situation. Instead of retreating or loosing man y more of our NATO troops. Lets take a lesson from George Bush Sr when he invaded Iraq after Iraq attacked Kawait. Let the cruise missles fly level the land East to Pakistan, flush them out till they are swatted down by the Pakistan Troops. The Taliban is a problem for peace throughout that area as is Iran is to the entire mideast. This should be a war against all Terrorists Nations and Groups. America, Russia, China, Asia, Europe, Africa, Austrailia, and the middle east have all been impacted by International Terrorists who come from all these countries and continents.

Peace to all Christians, Muslims, Buddists, Jews, and athiests who are not terrorists.

The Taliban is almost done, this is their last breath. People over there are getting sick of them and their lies that they use in the name of religion, and no one wants to be poor like those idiots people want to evolve not to go back to the middle ages with all that religion crap. We just have to take care of the domestic terrorists first, there is a lot of them here.

We cannot win there. This war will end like the Vietnam war did. You can not defeat a bunch of religious fanatics, you cannot defeat an ideology. For everyone of them taliban we kill, more fanatics are being born and trained to kill every day. This government of ours doesn't understand that. Religion is the cause of many problems in the world today, and the world would be a more peaceful place if everyone was an atheist! Laugh all you want, but it's true. And about training the Afghan army, my question is how the hell long does it take? 10. 20. 50 years? Many in the Afghan army are underground taliban. There will come a point in time that we will have to leave because you cannot defeat a religion! Think about it people.....

Why don't we just give all the Taliban video games for Christmas, get them hooked, and let our brave men and women in uniform quietly leave the country...

Its saddens me to read some of theses post, Talking about the Taliban. At this point if you don't know that they are not the people of Afghanistan or true Muslims. i feel bad for you. they are terrorist from all over the world including America, mostly from the middle east. And calling them Muslims is like calling those "Christin " that were arrested a few weeks ago for planing to kill cops true Christians. The Taliban are a few people that have a really messed up view of what Islam is. They are terrorist, they will kill or harm anyone that doesn't believe as they do, or tries to stop them includdinf the government of Afghanistan And for the people that are saying that we are wasting money to save the people of Afghanistan. How do you sleep at night knowing that you don't value all life the same. How does one person that lives in the next state be valued more that a random citizen of Afghanistan.

You know why the Taliban hates America and the West. Back in the First Gulf War "Desert Storm Iraq hits Kuwait and plans to his Saudi Arabia. "Bin Laden and the Mjuhaadin or whater now the Taliban/Al Quida offer to protect Saudi Arabia. The Saudi King gets better offer by us to put U.S and other Nato Troops. The King accepts US and NATO help and so Bin Laden is still not over his fit. Blow them all to kingdom. And may god have mercy on their soul.
