Taliban announce new operation in Afghanistan
The Taliban announced Saturday they would begin a new operation against U.S. and NATO-led troops in Afghanistan, vowing that "all foreign invading forces will ultimately face defeat," according to a statement from the group.
"The Al-Faath (victory) operations will target the invading Americans, the NATO military personnel, foreign advisers, spies who pose as foreign diplomats, members of the Karzai stooge administration and members of the cabinet," the Taliban statement said.
The statement, which listed 10 other targeted groups, said the operation would begin May 10, and would use IEDs, blockades, assassinations, abductions and suicide missions.
Afghan Defense Minister Rahim Wardak said Saturday the Taliban do not have the number of fighters or the means necessary to carry out such plans.
A spokesman for NATO's International Security Assistance Force told CNN that the Taliban's "pledge to attack the very people committed to securing Afghanistan's future further demonstrates that they have nothing to offer the Afghan people but more blood and tears."

We are completely targeting the wrong people. The true leaders are the imams and preachers. We should grab them all and "convince" them to issue fatwas or skinnywas against what the taliban do on a daily basis. Little by little the foot soldiers who are brainwashed will shift their focus. That is what needs to be done. Put pressure on all imams and clerics, forget the rest.
You mean.. as if if the taliban hasn't already been participating in IEDs, kidnappings, and suicide bombing? It's about as newsworthy an announcement as an investment banker saying they'll 'trade aggressively' when the occupation is itself requires one to be 'on the ball' all the time.

This is intresting we have invaded Afganistan and we have invaders coming from Mexico here. We should leave Afganistan but let the illegals stay here, intresting situation.
I say we make videos of our troops bathing the bullets in bacon grease before they load them and post it on the internet...seriously, though, the problem becomes the fact that the people of Afghanistan are not getting the help that we need to give them. We need to apply our expertise in infrastructure improvements and try to convince the people that wheat can be as profitable as poppies.....which may be a hard sell, thanks to the Taliban and the other Islamic radicals that use opium money to finance their operations. We need to help the Afghans help themselves!!!
9/11 is a crazy excuse to be occupying the country for ten years. No Afghans were involved. The hijackers were a bunch of Saudis living in Germany who trained to fly in the US. It could as easily have been planned from a basement in Idaho.

The whole idea behind us keeping our troops in Afghanistan is that the 20 year plan is for Afghanistan is for it to have some a government willing to sell oil to the U.S. The war is just an investment in our future.
