Iran executes 'anti-revolutionary' prisoners

Iran has executed five people convicted of "anti-revolutionary" activities, including one man hanged for his connections to the 2008 bombing of a mosque in the southern city of Shiraz, state news outlets reported Sunday.
The four men and one woman were hanged inside Tehran's Evin prison, the official news agency IRNA reported.

"The convicts were involved in terrorist activity, including planting bombs at government centers and public locations in various Iranian cities," the state prosecutor's office said, according to IRNA.

The prosecutor's office identified the condemned as Farzad Kamangar, Ali Heydarian, Fahad Vakili, Shirin Alam-Houli and Mehdi Eslamian.

Eslamian was hanged for his links to an April 2008 bombing of a mosque in the city of Shiraz that killed 13 people and wounded about 200, IRNA reported. He is the third person executed in connection with that attack.

Iranian authorities at one point blamed the explosion on the negligent handling of live munitions, but later accused a group that hopes to restore Iran's pre-1979 monarchy of carrying out the bombing.

The other four prisoners executed had ties to the Party of Free Life of Kurdistan, a militant Kurdish nationalist group accused of carrying out attacks in Iran, IRNA reported. According to a statement by the prosecutor's office, Alam-Houli - the only woman to be hanged - confessed to receiving payments to carry out two bombings in Tehran.

Well, it's so pathetic that some folks like Soroush, rickyg, and their American friends such Chris Dowd, don't get it that these people who were "tried", were just convicted of a crime they DID not commit. The real terrorists are the leaders of the regime which is occupying my homeland Iran. As an Iranian-American who's proud to live here, but long for homeland at the same time, feel so pathetic towards who even compare what is happening in Iran to what the US is doing. Come on guys, over there, they hang people by cranes in public squares!!! Just open your eyes. Under this terrorist regime, political prisoners are executed, and hanged as "drug rings", and even the acts to bombing in many cases are orchestrated by government agents to discredit their opposition. This same regime which sends bombs and train terrorists from Hezbollah, Taliban in Afghanistan, and terrorists in Iraq. As one of the commenters said, in the 1980s, in the space of 3 months (fall 1988) more than 30,000 political prisoners were exectued by the regime. When these butchers are gone, these shameless people who cheer for them, whether Iranian or otherwise, have ask for forgiveness, if not, at least from their own god, if they believe in one!!

Dear Freinds , Iranian Government with their backward regime , are not real Muslims i had annouced that on several occasions , Islam its just an umbrella fo their crimes , Ahmadi Nejad and Khamenie are two criminals who supposed to be punished in the public , and i hope this will take place soon , real Islam is too far from these two guys , for instance in Islam no one can convict someone without obvious evidence , no one can jail someone without evidence , no one can execute someone for expressing his or her ideas , however here i am not talking relegion , the idea being is to tell you that , i hope the regime in Iran would be changed soon , with this change people in the region would be able to live at peace , as per my assessment Iran is going to be disintegrated in 4 or 5 very soon , assassination of the helpless Arabs , Kurds , Azeris , Baluchis will expedite the disintegration which going to take place within years from now , wish you all a great day

Any person who attacks a place to worship God, being a mosque, church, or synagogue should be hung without any trial and publicly. A place to worship God is a place of peace and serenity. If we cannot keep away our problems from our place of peace, then I wonder what is happening to us?

Ahmaghinejad thinks that he is standing to the western power, but in reality he is making a fool of himself and Iranians with his uneducated talks and the population who is following him. He is the clown of 21 century.

Johnthebest- you are john the liar at it's best. You are probably from the illiterate bassiji caln who bully and torture people. Why don't you go back to Iran and share their miseries with them I am sur Iran will pay you good money to kill innocent people.
There was no evidence and no court. The court lasted only 8 minutes without the lawyers present.
You call this justice, I call it slaughtering just for the sake of and a tactic to scare people.

There are comments posted by a paid Ahmadinutjob agent in this countyry the names given are SOUROUSH AND KATHY AND SANTINO. These are all the same person. This fool who is defending the Iranian regime lives here in the U.S. because he is a paid agent involved in diffusing anti Iranian regime propaganda. You murderous fool why do you live here and not Iran? other than the money you get you love freedom. These kids all they wanted was to be heard. They were no where near the mosque bombing. The iranian govt for the first 9 months after it happened had said it was not a bomb attack but ammunition that had exploded which was being stored near the mosque. After the uprising of last summer they changed their story. Nothing you or your patrons in Iran says is plausible or believable. MURDERORS.

Kevin: You are the same A$$ hole who has posted comments on this site under different names. You know full well no bombs were planted. The first 9 months after the incident the Iranian governement had said the explosion at the mosque was weapons and explosives which were stored near the mosque and after last summer's uprising they changed their story. They needed an excuse to execute these young people who just wanted their voices heard the same reason you apparently live in this country. but obviously you are another one of Ahmadinutjob's paid agents who try to diffuse bad publicity here in the U.S. Go back to that hell hole you call Iran and live under the YOKE OF OPPRESSION provided by the satanic clergy and Ahmadinutjob.

Chris Dowd . It is fantastic that you have the posibbility to write what you want against USA. I am sure you write in the iranian press as well and write agonst the americans. Can you write sometting against Iran somewhere in Iran. Can you recommend me if I would like to write some citical words?
It is so easy to be critical here, my friend so don't be so categorical. You just use the freedom of speech and write here but defend the the terror against people who don't have this right over there.
NOT VERY HEROIC AT ALL! I I would recommend to write with small letters and be less upset!
