On the Radar: A justice nominated, a legend gone

Elena Kagan is expected to be nominated to the Supreme Court.

High court nominee:  President Barack Obama nominated Solicitor General Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court on Monday, picking her to fill the seat being vacated by retiring Justice John Paul Stevens. If confirmed, Kagan would be the third woman on the nine-justice bench and the fourth in the history of the high court. Her confirmation also would mean that the Supreme Court would have no Protestant justices for the first time in its history. Kagan, who is Jewish, would join six Catholic and two Jewish justices.

Dirty water: Plans to use a four-story containment dome to stop oil from gushing into the Gulf of Mexico have hit a snag. So what's next? Maybe a plan to try to plug the leak with trash, such as shredded tires. A top BP executive said Monday that the company is working "parallel paths" to fix an oil well blowout that is dumping 210,000 gallons of crude a day into the Gulf of Mexico.

Film legend mourned: There won't be another voice like hers. Singer-actress Lena Horne died at 92 Sunday night at New York Presbyterian Hospital. One of the first African-Americans to sign a long-term movie contract with a major Hollywood studio when she joined MGM in 1942, Horne complained she was used as "window dressing" in white films.

Bloodshed in Iraq: Violence shook Iraq Monday, as a wave of shootings and bombings killed more than 50 people and wounded more than 200. The worst single episode of violence occurred in a double car bombing in the city of Hilla where at least 23 people died and more than 100 were wounded.

Is it possible to attach the piping to the dome before it is lowered so that the oil could start being collected as soon as the dome starts to cover the area where the oil is coming from? Of course the other end of the pipe would have be connected to the collection container at the other end of the pipe. Wouldn't this eliminate the crystal build up problem?

This woman not only believes in Socialism...She believes the First Amendment should be amended!!
Obama knows exactly where she fit's in his agenda! She wants to amend & he states Sat. that Americans are getting too much information ...as in "Too much information is distracting"!!!???
Will this lead to banning Social Networks such as this one? Reporters who are exposing this agenda being banned or worse? Time to wake up America.

Is he really ignorant enough to say xbox gives information?

In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility – I welcome it.
John F. Kennedy .......I second that!!!

let's hear it for a) no more Protestants, b) no more men on the Supreme Court. We wish no one ill, but if we could just have one of those Catholic men drop out, we could get someone who's for the people on the Court. Thomas, Scalia, Roberts and Alito all swore they had no conservative agenda, but without exception they have voted en bloc for the conservative position
