Member of U.K. parliament stabbed

U.K. parliament member Stephen Timms was stabbed, the Labour Party said.

A member of parliament in the United Kingdom, Stephen Timms of the Labour Party, has been stabbed, the party press office said Friday.

Timms was taken to a London hospital where his condition was described as "not life threatening," the press office said.

Police said a 21-year-old woman was taken into custody. Timms has represented West Ham since 1994.

Gordon, you have it backwards. Have UK violence gone down or up since guns were taken away from law abiding citizens?

I enjoy so much the comments of the ignorant. Can anyone name a single act of violence by anyone directly associated with the Tea Party? On the other hand, the liberals that demonstrated against the immigration bill in Arizona were occasionally violent. Or how about the anarchists that protest the IMF? Or current events in Greece?

Shut up with all these comments regarding guns. You don't know it wouldn't have happened whether the guy was carrying or not. If they had conceal and carry he probably would have been shot. Stop whining once and for all.

"ts not life threatening. Try correcting someone else James. No one would wish Mr. Timms ill."

Rethink that in light of the fact that someone just stabbed Mr. Timms.

Well said David. The Left is so quick to condemn the Right for non-existent violence, but turn a blind eye to the most violent liberals amongst them.

Tomas, Seeing as how the tea partiers were originally against the redcoats it is no surprise that an ignorant American would ask something stupid like that... you and your Tea Bagger conspiracies. haha. It is unfortunate that this MOP was stabbed and thank God we don't have guns or he would have been shot and killed.

Well this is sad, but it shows that the person who stabbed him, maybe just a person who does not love themselves, and right now, with so many people in London the baddies are mixed into the population so it is hard to tell who is good and who is not.

Knives are used, because guns are hard to find, but too often, those who want and need to be heard, turn to crime. We focus maybe too much on the victim and ask now why such things are done, to be able to come to a solution. Not by outlawing knives, but rather giving people a place or a means to vent their worries, and be heard.

M;maybe the whole idea of a town hall, where every man has a voice, is really good, and right now, in politics, too many are never heard.

Hey, it can happen anywhere! It doesn't matter if its in the US or the UK. People get stabbed. It's horrible that it happens. If it was the middle east, though, all of parliament would have been blown up by a suicide bomber. So, I guess we're lucky!

Not all us yanks are morons, Mark but they have the loudest voices unfortunately. I would like to know her motive for what she did. Is she just a crazy or did she have anger towards the politics. Not that it makes it right but I would just like to know the motive.
