NORAD: U.S. jets intercept ultralight plane from Mexico

Two F-16 military fighter jets intercepted an ultralight aircraft that flew into Arizona from Mexico on Sunday and tracked it until the ultralight returned to Mexico, the North American Aerospace Defense Command said.

A statement by the NORAD command center in Colorado said the ultralight crossed into U.S. airspace just after 6 a.m. Arizona time (9 a.m. ET).

The F-16s were launched to intercept it, and they shadowed it for 30
minutes before the ultralight returned to Mexico, according to the NORAD
statement. No other details were immediately available.

The United States needs to grow some balls and start protecting our soil and our air space. We have a national gaurd and not sure why? Our border patrol agents cant even do the job. Lets use our national gaurd and use them for its purpose.

    @Indigenous

Your also a hypocrit. You said before that paranoid racists are creating a myth that mexicans are trying to immigrate and create a majority mexican society to take over.

Your last post was you promoting that you want that. You are worthless

Jason, Canadians in fact ARE doing that. But you know why you can't tell that is happening? Because they are all White, they fit into the stereotype of what an "american" looks like, which is WHITE. The rule of law before 1860 was SLAVERY...I can see your true intentions.

Why is it even a debate? Someone breaks the law and then complains about not getting the benefits that they have not earned in the first place and I am to feel sorry? I see it as great disrespect for people to pick and choose what laws they follow but demand all benefits from the country they are defiling. I spent 7 years following the law to give my wife the opportunity to become an American and I am disgusted to know of people who just cross the border, breaking the law and then @$#%! about the rights they dont deserve!
I have absolutely no sympath for you if you disrespect my country and then spit in its face by demanding rights and benefits that havent been earned. Just follow the law of the country you supposedly want to be a part of and I would be honored to stand beside you.

Why does everyone assume that this is drug related. NORAD has not said what this is about, for all we know this could of been a terrorist group smuggling terrorists into the country or simply a misunderstanding.

Thank you, Earl, for the only germane comment posted, at least recently. The story is about an ultralight passing over the border, not human beings. I am so tired of posters dragging illegal immigration into every article on CNN. The cons must have a bunch of keyboard members out there. Too bad most of them know nothing about grammar and can't spell correctly.

Ever see an F-16 fly in the "dirty configuration" at air shows. Can't go fast at all when the landing gear is down. You have to keep your angle of attack proper without losing lift.

Greg- you make a good point. That's why the fight should be at the border , not the streets of Flagstaff. Any person of darker complexion can be harrassed in any part of the state of AZ, whether US born or not. I've known Native Americans who look more "Mexican" than some of the gardeners and babysitters in my town, they're the ones that should be worried.

jim: You are reaping the benefits TODAY of what your ancestors did in the past. you may say you are not guilty, but you are okay reaping the benefits of our stolen natural resources. all the riches you have and all the comfort you have was built on the back and blood of our indigenous people...and on top of the blood and back of African slaves. you are benefitting today from the sins of your ancestors. If not, then give us back our mother.

We are not Immigrants, we are Indigenous People, that is why we call ourself Raza, because WE ARE THE PEOPLE, the FIRST NATION PEOPLE, ABORIGINAL AND INDIGENOUS PEOPLE of this land.
There is NOTHING Racist about "reconquest", it is only taking back what was stolen in the first place by White people.

There are no indigenous people to the Americas. The people of North America came over from Europe thru Alaska. Now, for Central America, you came from the islands that make up the Caribbean. Theory is divided as to whether those people came from the Australia area or from Africa. You should learn to speak your own language. La Raza does not mean the people. It means a race, ancestry or breed. You can be "of the Hispanic race"; or the Hispanic ancestry. You can even be a breed of Hispanic, though that is not the usual way to use the language. "Your people" have fought wars all throughout the Central Americas in stealing land away from other tribes and even spilled over into North America to steal slaves from the tribes in North America. Unless you are pure "Central American or South American Indian" (of which there are very few), you are Hispanic, no matter how you look at it. Don't get on your high horse about how "better" you are than the Whites.

I hope you can now SEE how quick people jump to the conclusion that there were illegals and drugs on that ultralight plane! Where's the proof? Even the U.S. Air Force didn't stop and detain it for any kind of proof! Has anyone considered that the pilot might have just been going in the wrong direction and lost track as has indeed happened even to U.S. Pilots in the not too distant past? Blaming someone, like in this incident, is why so many are against the Arizona Profiling Law! This simply serves to exemplify the "why" they are opposed to it.

But as this law progresses and more cases are brought against Arizona from innocent U.S. citizens being stopped too and questioned for papers, it is going to COST MEGABUCKS for Arizona to try to straighten out their mess, and in the meantime, many formerly Valued Programs that the people rely on, will SUFFER for lack of funds!

The Economy in Arizona Is Slated to Lose! Just Look!
