Official: Times Square bomb suspect eyed other targets

Faisal Shahzad is accused of attempting to bomb Times Square in New York.

The man accused of attempting to blow up a car bomb in Times Square also considered New York's Rockefeller Center, Grand Central Terminal, the World Financial Center and Connecticut helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky as other potential targets, a senior counterterrorism official with oversight of the investigation said Tuesday.

Faisal Shahzad had gone so far as to do surveillance of some of the additional targets, the official told CNN.

Shahzad, a Pakistani-born naturalized U.S. citizen, is accused of attempting to set off a car bomb in Times Square on May 1. E-mails obtained by CNN indicate he was looking for a way to strike back against "foreign infidel forces" he believed were oppressing the Muslim world.

We should be glad Native Americans didn't have airplanes because you would all blame them for the white "immigrants" [pun intended] use of genocide

The KKK never committed domestic terror against citizens. The CIA never killed a president. The wacko nuts from the militia carry their guns to other countries' capitals, right? I'm out. You can't reason with the unreasonable, but I'll be back to try to help you find sense

Only the Sikhs were able to subdue the Afghans and the Pakistanis. It took only military expedition by the great Sikh king of Punjab, Ranjit Singh to the heartland of Afghanistan to stop the invasions by the muslims hordes that had plagued India for a thousand years. The US should train the Afghan and Paki Sikhs who know the language and culture and are immune to the Islamic propaganda and to top it all are great fighters. The British knew this about the Sikhs and we should use them too. India beat Pakistan in 3 wars because of the Sikhs. Their religion teaches them to be Saint-Soldiers and can be our best asset in the war against the Islamists.

Islamic radicals are cowards and rejects. Bin Laden himself is a physical wreck incapable of serving in any legitimate army. His followers are angry rejects and cripples as well, since no one will arrange a marriage with a loser. They will lose any legitimate war they ever fight, and so they must strike from the shadows like the cowardly snakes they are, doomed forever to fight and maim but never to succeed, not unlike Satan himself, who can only strike Adam on the heel, but whom will be struck upon his head on that final day!

Doesn't anyone seem to notice the hype that is built up and perpetuated throughout the media? Hate is a taught characteristic, not an inate one. If people would start to learn the truths in cultures and their belief systems, whether bad or good, then you would start to understand. You all make comments, and all are worthy(most), but if the situations were reversed, sya we were the occupied ones, then the same would be happening, just done by us.

Americans don't want to learn some ethnic or religeous culture.
America is a country blind to that, as it should be. We are a union
of diversity with laws common to all citizens. Cultural exceptions
      don't exist, and should not.

Thats the distinction. Love it or leave it.
But if you f'k with America, strap your seat belt on buddy,
      your gonna get thrilled !!

War, killing all that is wrong no matter how you slice it, blaming a people on either side isn't wrong. you can't go around blaming all Muslims, it's really not that simple, just as not all American are in support of war, Not all Muslims are in favor of terrorism. And cowardice? Being racist and small minded is cowardly, rather then try to give understanding and compassion and remorse for those who die, you guys are going to these hard racist extremes. in order to quell this growing hatred and war, we, as individuals should take the time to give understanding and compassion and just do a little reading and research. Because it is Hatred and greed that create these situations.

What is needed in this discussion is some sense of recent history in this country. Have all of you so soon forgotten Timonthy McVey? He did the same thing and more successfully. He believed in a cause. But believing in a cause does not absolve you of cowardice or guilt. The method both McVey and Shazhad used was aimed at civilians, and IS cowardly by any definition. So too the actions of the Unibomber. There is no racism involved. It is the actions which speak, not the ethnicity. To try add say that reaction to Shazhad is based on racism is an attempt to excuse Shazhad by villifying others. The facts speak for him, and they ARE cowardly.
