First photo of Times Square bombing suspect since arrest

Faisal Shahzad was arrested in connection with an attempted bombing in Times Square.

[Updated at 10:51 a.m.] CNN's Susan Candiotti has obtained Faisal Shahzad's mugshot, which is the first new photo of the attempted Times Square bomber, since he was arrested for his association with the plot in Manhattan.

The photo was taken after Faisal Shahzad was formally placed in the custody of the U.S. Marshals on Wednesday. He’s shown wearing a grey sweatshirt — the same clothes he wore in court. Unlike earlier photos taken before he was arrested, he now has a slight beard.

[Posted at 10:40 a.m.] Attempted Times Square bombing suspect Faisal Shahzad is being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in lower Manhattan, a federal law enforcement official told CNN.

He's a US citizen- The charge should be treason, which carries a possible death penalty!

Can we give him a prison transfer? Send him to jail in China or North Korea that gives him a trial and finds him guilty, gives him 5 years hard labor, and then gives him the death penalty.

I believe she meant that we should close OUR boarder and not let any one from Pakistan in. Even though she is wrong in her idea, it's pretty obvious what she meant!! READ IT!!

you are being much too kind. I'm sick of this crap already!! Gov't is supposed to protect us right? Isn't that the purpose? Secure the borders. Kick out illegals. And if anyone spews anything subversive or incites violence like they do EVERY DAY-DEPORT THEM!!

He wanted to blow himself up so strap the sh** to him and put him in an open field and let him do it. The vultures will take care of what's left.

The bomb was so poorly constructed that it begs the question of whether this guy ever intended to hurt anyone at all. Often times AQ or the Taliban will kidnap someones family and tell them to blow up a bomb or they will kill them. That could verywell be the case here.

i must say, rarely is there a moment when this many people seem to agree. interesting its over a dirt bag and not healthcare reform or who's in office. just goes to show that some things are way more important than others, so much so that its not even a debate.

This piece of Muslim refuse should be tried (for show only), quickly convicted and sentenced to die immediately. The execution method should be that he be fitted with cement shoes, then placed in the center of a large 12' deep tank, which would then be slowly filled to the brim with rancid pigs blood. And the entire event should be broadcast live on CSPAN, for the benefit of Muslims everywhere.

It's really sad how people defame the name of Christ... But the truth of the matter is that one day we will all answer to God. Those of you who do not know Christ, i plead with you to find someone who does and talk with them. For those of you who refuse Christ and continue, please remember this moment and you are suffering beyond belief and wish you would've taken my suggestion. It's sad that this man was influenced by Satan and did these hateful acts. But think about it.... Sin is proof that there is a higher being. There is a heaven and there is a hell. I am praying for those reading this would make that right choice today. Some say "what if your wrong". for those of you who are skeptical, it's better to error on the side of what if instead of not at all.

Well, I've been waiting with baited breath for the latest photo of the bomber. What is the point of showing what he looks like now that he's been in custody for 2 weeks? I don't understand the relevance of this news story?

Sicko... I could care less who he is what color he is... why other posters would bring that up... religion that doesn't matter... the fact is this man is SICK! he deserves to be tried, convicted, and sentenced. I would be happy to watch him suffer what he was trying to do to all of those innocent lives... let him die by his own attempts at killing others.

Wonder what his kids and wife would think, seeing their doting father/husband in this version. I simply cannot fathom what this idiot, with a wife and 2 little children was thinking, when he tried to pull that stupid stunt with the intent to commit mass murder. Clearly, a stupid, brain-washed, impressionable fool who got a little carried away by the rhetoric from the radical websites that he supposedly frequented.....clearly he has a LONG time to ruminate over the enormity of what he did.

wifey and kids don't care. I read they had been living back in Pakistan, anyway. Probably being taken care of by the Taliban or the Paki military.

There's no excuse for what he did, yes probably did go through some traumatic experience but there is no possible excuse for what he did. As for those who have commented here that he should be sent back i couldn't agree more but those who state that they should be put in their place and told they can not do that and that pakistani/ muslims are the face of terrorism what about the drone attacks that america is carrying out? what about those hundreds and thousands that have been killed in afghanistan all those children and women. The common afghan man would give anything to get his land bac,k to have the troops leave. Terrorism is terrorism killing is killing irrespective of what name we give it whether we call it faisal shehzad or the the troops in afghanistan. Don't mean to offend anyone not taking sides. Just merely stating facts.
