State dinner crashers stopped near White House

Tareq and Michaele Salahi, who crashed the last White House state dinner, were pulled over near the White House Wednesday.

White House party crashers Tareq and Michaele Salahi didn’t show up at President Obama’s Wednesday night state dinner for Mexican President Felipe Calderon, but that doesn’t mean they were off the Secret Service’s radar – or far from the event.

The couple was in the back of a limousine that was stopped by a uniformed Secret Service officer just two blocks from the White House where Obama was entertaining the Mexican leader and 200 guests Wednesday evening, the Secret Service said.

According to a Secret Service statement, the officer saw a limousine go through a red light at the intersection of 15th and Constitution Avenue about 8 p.m. It then tried to enter a restricted parking area on the Ellipse, south of the White House. The officer then stopped the limo at 17th and H streets, northwest of the White House.

The driver was ticketed and the vehicle and the Salahis were sent on their way, the Secret Service said.

The Salahis caused a stir on November 24 when they showed up uninvited for a state dinner held for visiting Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. At that event, the couple even had a photograph taken with President Obama.

The Salahis contended they were told they could attend the program to honor India's prime minister, but the White House says they were not invited and were not on the guest list for the exclusive affair.

Earlier this year, the couple’s media representative said they would be featured on “Real Housewives of D.C.,” a reality show expected to premiere on cable outlet Bravo this summer.

In a congressional hearing on the party crashing in January, the couple refused to discuss their motivation for attending the White House dinner.

When asked by House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Mississippi, whether the state dinner appearance was part of a "reality TV stunt," Tareq Salahi said the couple was under a non-disclosure agreement and "should not discuss matters related to the television matter."

Why not just shoot them as suspected terrorists?

      Because they're not Muslims

I laughed at this, then realized it's sorta true. If they were Muslim in any way, this would be a 'terrorist attempt'. But since it's 2 regular white people, it's just 'oooh those guys who keep trying to break into the white house, how silly'.

      A bit concerning..

This SHOULD BE considered a terrorist attempt. Breaking into the whitehouse uninvited? if they were muslim in any way they'd be in court for the rest of their lives. White power makes me sick sometimes UGH

      Tom –

That would be too easy. As for the person who said they were both white people – incorrect. The hubby is from the Mid-East – he just doesn't look it in this photo.

They're a pair of wannabe socialites, seriously. They have a lawsuit or two against them because of their "charity" polo tournament didn't pay to the charities in question nor pay off the vendors.

With the bad karma these two have an incredible knack for generating, I predict they will eventually bring themselves to a bad enough end that we will actually pity them.

Don't they have any real friends who actually do invite them to dinner? Maybe they should consider staying home and cooking dinner for themselves. That would be a reasonable reality check for these apparent wannabees. Sad really.

Honestly, who do these people think they are? Most likely poor white trash looking to be something other than what they are...

Just another publicity stunt to get $$$ on reality TV. Just like Ballon boy father. Too bad they're not doing time for wasting all my tax dollars spent on investing them and looking out for them.

The smug looks on their faces just show that they think they can get away with anything. It's like that dumb star chick 'losing her pass in France' when her penalties should be dire. Makes me sick.

These people are a joke! I can't believe they are actually going to be on a reality show. Who the hell would even watch it (after all it's going to be on Bravo). These people really need to get a life. Quit trying to appear important and live a life.

The Salahis may not have been specifically invited to the White House, but my tax dollars -and theirs- were paying for the dinner. If Katie Couric and other invited guests were eating there on my dime, then we should all get at least something for it; the Salahis just had the audacity to show up as if they had an invitation.
In fact, I heard that during public appearances, the President even shakes hand with people that were not invited to the event.

They should have been prosecuted the first time. That would've cooled their heels. Now they should be given a restraining order to stay away. I cannot stand them!!!! Still looking for their "15 minutes". GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
