'Reason to believe' Pakistani Taliban plotting to strike U.S.

U.S. intelligence has strong reason to believe that the Pakistani Taliban is actively plotting to hit interests in the U.S. and American targets overseas, a U.S. official told CNN Thursday.

The concerns about the group that authorities say directed the Times Square bombing plot are coming from multiple streams of information, including from Faisal Shahzad, the Times Square bombing suspect, the official said.

The official told CNN that CIA Director Leon Panetta and National Security Adviser Jim Jones relayed the new terror threat information to Pakistan's government on their trip there earlier this week.

The threat information was not down to the level of specific cities, the official said.

Faisal Shahzad is innocent! How can a loving husband and father and a good American citizen become a terrorist? Its all a big conspiracy! I am a muslim and i love this country. I'm against extremists, even if theyre muslim, but i seriously don't believe Faisal Shahzad did half of what he is being acused of. He was set up! The sad part is, i don't think we'll ever know the full truth. I feel for his wife and kids too for having to go through all of this.

Unfortunately educated muslim youth today are attracted towards and embrace extremism. No setup here. Lots of Faizal Shahzad's are undergoing training in Pakistan to wage war against US

I am certain many terrorists are good husbands and fathers. I fail to see what that has to do with terrorism.
      a) terms "terrorism" or "infidel" depend a lot on who's uttering them. I guess christians might be infidels to some muslims, just as muslims might be infidels to some christians. Terrorists sometimes prefer being known as freedom fighters.
      b) What on earth defines a "good american citizen" in your view?
      c) Take care: if you're certain Shazad is innocent, you might be considered a "person of interest" by who's conducting the investigation 😉

I'm not certain he's innocent, all i'm saying is that he just doesn't come across as a terrorist. I dont believe half of the things officals or what the media is saying about him, like all of the confessions he made. Some of them may be true. I dont think he was working with the taliban though. If he is truly guilty, i wish we can find out the real reason why he did it. Based on the reports, he clearly lost his way, he's been lost for over a year. But what led him to go to that extreme?

Yeah, obviously it was all Israel's doing since Pakistan is their biggest threat, not I don't know Iran, Hezbollah, Syria, Jordan, or Egypt with whom they have had a history of wars with or anything.

Get a grip you conspiracy theorists, do you really believe things are as organized as you think they are?

Well this sucks, now we'll have another p.o.s. vehicle to tow away after some uneducated dipsh!t tries to rig it with a bomb. Maybe they should focus on training to not suck before plotting attacks as a desperate plan to keep from being wiped out of existence.

Its time Pakistan act responsibly and clamp down on all terrorist training camps and hideouts. We give them millions of US taxpayer dollars and military hardware. Atleast there should be some accountability.

Well Millions of dollars and military equipment?

You are as ignorant as your peers, Pakistan gets most of its funds from the NATO support fund and before going in to Swat and then south wazirstan Pakistan had requested some military equipment form the US (our so called partner in this war)Pakistan wasnt given any military equipment because apparently the thought of US giving military equipment to Pakistan was giving nightmares to India, so the US backed out and not for the first time!!

It started with the United States supporting Iraq during the Iran–Iraq War. This support included several billion dollars worth of economic aid, the sale of dual-use technology, non-U.S. origin weaponry, military intelligence, Special Operations training, and direct involvement in warfare against Iran. The WMD used by Saddam against his own people was provided by US only.

Result: Iraq fought with US and killed hundreds of its soldiers with all the aid and training given by US only.

Then in early 1979, U.S. foreign service officers began meeting insurgent leaders in Afghanistan to determine their needs. According to the then US National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski, CIA aid to the insurgents within Afghanistan was approved in July 1979 much before clash with Soviets.

Result: Afghan mujahideen and several terrorist outfits having a war with US and killing its soldiers with the help of all the aid provided by US only during Soviet war.

Now: US helping Pakistan with all latest ammunition and funds and ignoring its activities in the South Asian region. Basically, the money is supposed to be used against the extremists but we have already started seeing the consequences of this so-called cooperation in "War on Terror". But who knows....

Since US has not learnt anything from its previous mistakes, we all know the result coming our way where all this aid to Pak going to be used.

The only difference between these 3 consecutive mistakes ----- only Pakistan has nuclear capabilities. US has entered a danger zone. We have witnessed that US has slapped his own face very hard with its own shoe. That too...3rd consecutive time. So, the big question now is that who do we expect to help US now?????

Kristy and others: This article is news (read post by "me" which is not me. I won't bore you by repeating). Some people react strangely when CNN or anybody reports on articles that for some reason or other don't relate to their pet hatreds whatever they may be. I, for one, am glad that CNN reports on much that is "wrong with the world" (this article included) as well as, bless them, on much that is right with the world. I am even glad that CNN allows diversity in postings as is very obvious.
What is your problem? You can zap to what interests you. Or can't you handle more than one news a day?

Now people can understand why it is so important to have "the bomb" in that region. We don't mess with the real perpetrator of terrorism in the region because they have the bomb, and they are dumb enough to use it. I just can't believe we are dumb enough to allow them to immigrate into this country. Pakistanis and Indians and Red Chinese and Russians and Cubans should be personna non grata in the good old USA.

so, America is getting ready to invade Pakistan? But make no mistake Pakistan is no Afghanistan or Iraq, you come into Pakistan and only your bodies will go out!
And why is it so that I have never seen CNN actually praising Pakistan for what we have done? and we have done a lot, we have done more in ONE year than you have been able to do in the last seven years, we have lost more soldiers than ALL of your nato forces combined together have and NO we dont kill innocent civilians which is why we are winning the war in tribal areas of Pakistan. America in Afghanistan has not been able to neutralize one province in seven years, what moral authority they have to tell us to do more?
The truth is that America lost this lame war ages ago and all they are trying to do now is looking for scape goat but I tell you what Pakistan is too big to be the next scape goat. If we stop the supply of ammunition to Afghanistan (which we should have) your soldiers will be in a bit of trouble as you should know that 75% of everything which you use in Afghanistan goes through Pakistan.
You thought you can go into Iraq and KILL KILL and KILL well guess what As you sow so shall you reap and its reaping time now!

You're crazy. Pakistan can't even control terrorism within their own country, much less another. We haven't lost 1 single battle in Iraq or Afghanistan. We have nearly accomplished our mission in Iraq and the war is won. Afghanistan, well the government and police must take charge of their own security, backed by the U.S. and Nato. They dictate their own future, only time will tell. It's not our goal to conquer Iraq or Afghanistan. It's always been our goal to stabilize those two nations and let their own government and democracy take control. If your definition of winning a war is to defeat every single terrorist, that will never happen.

AH DA, your part of the problem. Were fighting your fellow muslums that hide in your country. Why shouldn't you sacrifice for your own well being. What would you do if Indian terrorist started bombing you folk. Whay kind of animal society do you have when you strap a bomb onto your own son and tell him to do his duty in the name of god. Just a bunch of sick people. God can take care of his own problems when he wants to if there is one.

Beggars have no choice. Must say that Jatt has got guts to speak like this. Surely a religious retard. Bloody most of pak economy is running on US aid and they talking about their losses. Hard fact to digest..rather a fact to laugh hard. Pak decided to help US cos it always wanted to beat its neighbours through defence. Pak is a surely full of insane policy makers who spend more than 7% of their GDP on defence whereas China spends just 2.8% and India just 2%. Bread for common man is not their necessity but bomb is a major demand. Look at these mentally challenged souls. Dont forget that if US can help Pak against Afghanistan, it can use the mighty neighbors against Pak also and the neighbors have the much devastating fire power than you can think of. Pak itself is not able to sort out North Waziristan problem for decades, its own mainline cities are bombed every single day and they talk about controlled pakistan. Trying to be funny or wat??? Its economy runs on US aid, terorrist export throughout the world opium farming. If any of these out, pak goes bankrupt in 2 months. In Oct.2001, US security advisor Richard Boucher had clearly told Mushraff " if you dont do what we want in Afghan, you will be sent back to stone age in just 3 days". Jokers...hahahaha

Our chickens are coming home to roost! Future attacks will come from within Pakistan and rather soon. The next 9/11 magnitude strike is imminent. 13 trillion dollars in debt, our financial system is broken and our economy is on the brink of collapse. We're headed South rather quickly and there's no turning back. It's all coming to a head; prepare now! Obama with the help of other politicians have accomplished his agenda; destroy America!!
