Poland flooding causes deaths, official says

At least 12 people died and thousands were affected when heavy rains caused three Polish rivers to flood, according to a Polish Defense Ministry spokesman.

The rains over the past week caused the Vistula, Odra and Warta rivers to flood, affecting some 20,000 people, according to the spokesman, Wieslaw Grzegorzewski.

Nine helicopters, more than 3,800 soldiers and 35 special boats were being used to help flooding victims, he said, and the ministry was doing its best to prevent further flooding damage.

Let's face it, the US does not care about what's going on in Poland unless it is in the interest of the US.

I am very disappointed with CNN not covering a major disaster in Poland while covering every other detail that is probably not important. I will spread the word to other about selective news coverage of CNN. I hope this is not the fault of many reporters working there. Thanks.

It's terrible. I live in Poland near Poznań. The wave has come to us on a Friday or Saturday. Southern part of Polish is flooded. So many people have lost everything, people and many animals died. This is a disaster for us. =(

What can i say. This is terrible. I'm living at Starachowice city, that has opinion like Rome "built on seven hills". So i'm safe. But it's big tragedy for many people. They lost they houses, work places and so on.
I don't watch CNN or other non-polish (sorry, forget the word) news television, so i don't know what they telling. Many of you have right – Katrina killed more people, and took more homes etc. But something like Katrina will never happen to Poland (other climate), that's why this flood is so tragic...

PS:Sorry for mistakes – i was learning english for over 4 years (i'm not counting school english lessons, but lessons in private school), but i know that i'm still making mistakes 🙂

CNN i can't believe you don't feel this is new worthy. If it was not for the Polish TV and the local Polish Church I would not have heard anything about this. Shame on you CNN...so much for global news.

Danutanuta – Contact a local Polish Church I am sure they will be making collection of money and clothing
